CIBC Miracle Day invests in kids across Canada.

Each year on the first Wednesday of December, CIBC banking employees and CIBC Wood Gundy investment advisors donate their fees and commissions to children’s charities. CIBC Miracle Day, an annual event run by the CIBC Children’s Foundation, has helped many children across Canada, raising a total amount of $69 million since its inception.

It all started in 1984 when Branch Manager Timothy Miller and the investment advisors came up with the idea to donate their commissions for one day to children’s charities. The initiative was able to raise $163,935 in its first year and has increased exponentially. The objective has remained the same throughout the past 28 years: invest in the lives of children to help prepare them for the future and to make sure that tomorrow’s citizens are backed by a strong portfolio of skills and support.

On December 4, 2013, the employees and advisors will continue the tradition and donate their trading commissions again to Miracle Day. As a client, you can participate in the event by making a trade on the 4th of December this year. For those who don’t bank with CIBC, you can still participate by visiting a branch and making a donation.

The money raised by this event will be used to support several programs benefitting children in 125 communities across Canada. Some of these programs include providing necessary medical care for children with illnesses, education for children of low-income families, shelter for families in crisis, skills development, and funding research on children’s disorders. For example, in 2005, CIBC donated $62,000 to National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR). For a comprehensive list of beneficiaries, you can view the foundation recipients here.

Investing in children is an investment in our future. Your support will be truly appreciated.
