When I learned how to do tubular herringbone stitch I immediately thought of freshwater seed pearls. I think they are a perfect match for this technique and the end result creates a luxurious necklace.

I specially like the contrast between the silky white pearls and the dark red of Bamboo coral in this necklace.

Natural pearls have very small holes which made creating this necklace very challenging, but I think the silky look and feel created by the tubular herringbone stitch and the luster of seed pearls made it all worthwhile.

About Bamboo Coral

The use of bamboo or sponge coral provides an attractive look of coral without the heavy price. They also lessen the demand on the declining red coral supply. The difference between bamboo coral and red coral is that Bamboo coral occurs white in nature. It is dyed to achieve the red color. Also visible can be black spots a natural occurrence in bamboo coral.
