The FDD has petitioned the Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the failed attempt by the government to conceal the $192 million loan from China.

And the FDD says while president Edgar Lungu enjoys immunity from prosecution, he can be prosecuted for crimes he commits as minister of Defence.

Lungu is both president and minister of defence.

FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza told the ACC that the contraction of the loan from an obscure Chinese firm was shady.

Mwanza contended that the secretive contraction of the loan was done outside government laid down procedure. He said that all Zambian government expenditure should be approved by parliament as required by the laws of the country.

Mwanza said the ACC should investigate the suspicious deal just like the investigated the other arms deal involving Katebe Katoto.
