A special weather statement has been issued about the amount of rain that is going to fall today, particularly north of the GTA. Here is the statement from Environment Canada:

Rainfall warning in effect for:

Barrie, Collingwood, Hillsdale, Midland, Coldwater, Orr Lake, Orillia, Lagoon City, Washago, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Baysville, Port Carling, Port Severn, Town of Parry Sound, Rosseau, Killbear Park, Bruce Peninsula, Sauble Beach, Tobermory, Hanover, Dundalk, Southern Grey County, Owen Sound, Blue Mountain, Northern Grey County, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Southern Bruce County, Haliburton, Minden, Southern Haliburton County, Oxtongue Lake, Fort Irwin, Northern Haliburton County.

Rain, heavy at times will continue to affect the region today with total rainfall amounts of 30 to 60 mm expected. There is also a risk of an isolated thunderstorm this afternoon. Rainfall warnings are issued when 25 mm or more of rain are expected within 24 hours, when the ground is frozen or saturated, and has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
