Congrats to 20 year old Dutch Dj Martin Garrix from The Netherlands, the youngest DJ to ever be crowned #1 according to the yearly poll on Dj Mag. The awards were handed out at The Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam and The Legendary Tiesto was on stage with him during the announcement. I’ve had the pleasure and opportunity to meet and interview Martin several times and happy for his success at such a young age. He is truly living the dream! How does he feel winning this award? “It feels unreal to have won. I 100 percent did not expect it at all. I’ve had an amazing year, with awesome shows and amazing fans — I’m so thankful for their support. I didn’t even do a campaign, and it just shows how dope the fanbase is.” Last year’s Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike were Number 1 but slipped a notch to #2 followed by Hardwell who isn’t a too pleased with the DJ Mag process although he himself was on top of the list in 2014 and 2013. Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, David Guetta, Steve Aoki, Oliver Heldens, Skrillex and Afrojack round out the Top 10. CalvinHarris continues to make the most money in the electronic cash kings world but placed #14 on The Top on the list. The highest ‘new’ name in this year’s chart is The Chainsmokers, who’ve re-entered the Top 100 DJs poll after breaking into the scene thanks to the success of their track “Selfie.” They slid out of the Top 100 last year, but re-entered inside the top 20 at #18 thanks to tours and big hits including Closer, Don’t Let Me Down and Roses. Marshmello is the highest new entry of the year and made his debut at #28 on the list.
