Starting in 2009, Forbes magazine compiles an annual list of the world’s most powerful people. The list has one slot for every 100 million people on Earth, meaning in 2009 there were 67 people on the list, in 2010 there were 68, in 2011 there were 70, and in 2012 there were 71. Slots are allocated based on the amount of human and financial resources that they have sway over, as well as their influence on world events. Forbes has now released it’s 2015 list of most powerful people in the world. So here’s the top 20 people who made the list……..



1.Vladimir Putin, 63 (Russia)

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin has been the President of Russia since 7 May 2012, succeeding Dmitry Medvedev. Putin previously served as President from 2000 to 2008, and as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000 and again from 2008 to 2012.

2. Angela Merkel, 61 (Germany)

Angela Dorothea Merkel is a German politician and former research scientist who has been the Chancellor of Germany since 2005 and the Leader of the Christian Democratic Union since 2000. She is the first woman to hold either office.

3. Barack Obama, 54 (United States)

Barack Obama is the 44th and current president of the United States, and the first African American to serve as U.S. president. First elected to the presidency in 2008, he won a second term in 2012.

4. Pope Francis, 78 (Roman Catholic Church)

Pope Francis is the 266th and current Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, a title he holds ex officio as Bishop of Rome, and Sovereign of the Vatican City.

5. Xi Jinping, 62 (China)

Xi Jinping is the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, the president of the People’s Republic of China, and the chairman of the Central Military Commission.

6. Bill Gates, 60 (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation)

William Henry “Bill” Gates III is an American business magnate, philanthropist, investor, computer programmer, and inventor. In 1975, Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft, which became the world’s largest PC software company.

7. Janet Yellen, 69 ( Washington, United States)

Janet Louise Yellen is an American economist. She is the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, previously serving as Vice Chair from 2010 to 2014.

8. David Cameron, 49 (United Kingdom)

David William Donald Cameron is a British politician who has served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom since 2010, as Leader of the Conservative Party since 2005 and as the Member of Parliament for Witney since 2001.

9. Narendra Modi, 65 (India)

Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 15th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since 26 May 2014. Modi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament from Varanasi.

10. Larry Page, 42 (Google)

Lawrence “Larry” Page is an American computer scientist and internet entrepreneur who co-founded Google Inc. with Sergey Brin, and is the CEO of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc.

11. Mario Draghi, 68 (European Central Bank )

Mario Draghi is an Italian economist, manager and banker who succeeded Jean-Claude Trichet as the President of the European Central Bank on 1 November 2011.

12. Li Keqiang, 60 (China)

Li Keqiang is the current Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. An economist by training, Li is China’s head of government as well as one of the leading figures behind Chinese economic policy.

13. Warren Buffett, 85 (Berkshire Hathaway)

Warren Edward Buffett is an American business magnate, investor and philanthropist. He is the most successful investor of the 20th century.

14. Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 79

Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the King of Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the head of the House of Saud. He served as the Deputy Governor and then the Governor of Riyadh for 48 years from 1963 to 2011.

15. Carlos Slim Helu, 75 (América Móvil)

Carlos Slim Helú is a Mexican business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. From 2010 to 2013, Slim was ranked as the richest person in the world.

16. Francois Hollande, 61 (France)

François Gérard Georges Nicolas Hollande is a French politician. He is the current President of France, as well as Co-prince of Andorra, since 2012.

17. Jeff Bezos, 51 (Amazon.com)

Jeffrey Preston “Jeff” Bezos is an American entrepreneur and investor. He is a technology entrepreneur who has played a role in the growth of e-commerce as the founder and CEO of Amazon.com , an online merchant of books and later of a wide variety of products.

18. Ali Hoseini-Khamenei, 76 ( Iran)

Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei is the second and current Supreme Leader of Iran and a Muslim cleric Ali Khamenei succeeded Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the Iranian Revolution, after Khomeini’s death, being elected as the new Supreme Leader by the Assembly of Experts on 4 June 1989.

19. Mark Zuckerberg, 31 (Facebook)

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is an American computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur. He is best known as one of five co-founders of the social networking website Facebook. Zuckerberg is the chairman and chief executive of Facebook, Inc.

20. Jamie Dimon, 59 (JPMorgan Chase)

James “Jamie” Dimon is an American business executive. He is chairman, president and chief executive officer of JPMorgan Chase, largest of the Big Four American banks, and previously served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.  Dimon was named to Time magazine’s 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011 lists of the world’s 100 most influential people
