The Alcohol and Other Drug Education and Assistance program at Kennesaw State University (north of Atlanta) is on a prevention mission: to find and support the 20 percent of under-the-radar college freshmen who aren't quite at high risk for drug usage but aren't exactly low risk, either. By offering a "prehab" session and questionnaire within freshman seminar courses, trained lecturers who are students themselves hope to help first-year college students make better decisions about substance use before it's too late.

"This is where we're finding people who are low risk and intervening before they habituate, before the behavior," says Patrick Moore, a licensed professional counselor who worked with KSU’s Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery at the time of this interview.
