Chiguru 2015 – An Awesome day of Joy!
Youth For Seva Hyderabad organized an an inter-school sporting, cultural and literary fest Chiguru (literally ‘budding’), to showcase talents of under privileged kids from in and around Hyderabad.
In the Third Edition of Chiguru, 4000 children from 150 projects across the city participated in 13 competitions with electrifying enthusiasm. About 1000 volunteers from 40 companies and colleges volunteered in organizing the event.
It was a day of joy for all the volunteers , kids and everyone present who took part in it. The kids showed exceptional skills in all the cultural, academic and sporting competetions organised for them. Every child showed tremendous potential and exhibited competitive spirit while participating in the events.
From the Chiguru launch in November 2014, about 300 volunteers got involved in training the kids at their respective locations. Needless to say, volunteers were extremely proud seeing their children perform to the best of their abilities at the big stage. The judges felt overwhelmed seeing bundles of talent all around and they admitted that they had difficult time to pick winners.
YFS Hyderabad thanks all our Volunteers, Donors and Well wishers for having supported us to organize Chiguru.
Sharmistha, a volunteer from Deloitte states “chiguru is great way to understand participation, competition and failure .A forum to exchange ideas, exchange perspective and love towards children. It lays the foundation for leaders of tomorrow”.
Chandana, a homemaker and our volunteer feels “Chiguru for me is an event that’s helping the children of these privileged schools to identify their inner potential and area of interest. More than just a home maker I would answer your question as a mother of two and teacher for many. The only way to relive one’s childhood is to be with the children and they teach me about the world that’s beyond the books and classrooms. When I go to any school all I get is happiness for which any effort seems worthful”.
Dharani Varma – A Pharma student says “chiguru was not just that an event. It was one awesome feel to live in. The concept was very refreshing and novel. I was thrilled seeing kids perform with infectious energy. They were not only talented but sportive enough to cheer up the other kids as well. I felt satisfied and throughouly enjoyed being a part of chiguru. Looking forward to more such wonderful moments.”
Together we can,
