Well, the highlights of the past week would have to be as follows: the weather returning to normal human temperatures (can I get a hallelujah?), getting my hair done on Saturday (and having the whole morning/afternoon to myself!), and finally feeling like early mornings have become somewhat of a habit (I keep waking up naturally around 6AM, which is totally bizarre).
I still struggled a lot with patience, frustration over our maintenance being done on our duplex (so much dust, so much disarray), and general crabbiness. I don't know what it is lately, but I'm constantly on the edge. What's odd is that I've been taking so many steps to avoid losing my temper and to keep myself in check, but whenever I feel like I'm gaining ground, I'm faced with several more out-of-the-blue, in-my-face challenges. It's like how so many people have told me: "Don't ever pray for patience! You don't want to see how you're going to be challenged." It may be more or less tongue in cheek, and I totally hate when people tell me that, but still. It is starting to ring truer than I'd like.
One day at a time, I guess.
There are a lot of wonderful things on the horizon, however, and I'm eager for autumn to truly arrive! Every year is more fun, especially as Eisley gets older and older. I'm ready for pumpkins and all-things-autumn! Come on, scarf weather!
Here's a look at last week's to-do list:
Last week's goals:
Marriage, Motherhood & Home Life
— Plan date night
— Work on patience with Eisley (that is not to say I was actually patient all the time, but I worked really hard to be intentional about it)
— Complete workbooks with Eisley 4-5 times
— Deep clean/organize crafting nook
Self
— Make it though the week without any additional crabby-lady meltdowns (oops!)
— Finish reading one book (finished Say Goodbye to Survival Mode which I already want to start reading again, and The Sugar Queen—which ended so perfectly that I actually had goosebumps and fist-pumped the air a little bit)
Creativity
— Decide whether or not to continue selling my crafts at local shop (pretty sure I've decided to say goodbye to my humble shelf and focus my energy on other ventures!)
— Start working on new blog design (used this tutorial to add a drop-down navigation bar below my header!)
— Research online classes for web design
Miscellany
— Send one piece of snail mail
And here are my new goals for the week ahead:
This week's goals:
Marriage, Motherhood & Home Life
— Plan date night (I'm starting to think this will never happen—man, I wish either set of parents lived closer to us!)
— Take Eisley somewhere new
— Decorate for autumn (I don't typically do much, so I think this year it will be fun to challenge myself a bit to be more festive)
— Try one new recipe
Self
— Drink only water (and one cup of coffee in the morning!)
— Finish reading one book
— Make an appointment I've been putting off for way too long
Creativity
— Create one piece of seasonal decor
— Continue working on new blog layout
Miscellany
— Send one piece of snail mail
Happy Monday, friends!
