The bi-annual Industry Connects Career Fair opened its doors today to 700 students from all secondary schools across Huron and Perth counties.
This year it was the Municipality of Central Huron’s chance to host.
Students found out about employment opportunities from regional employers and explored post-secondary education and career options from exhibitors, colleges and universities.
“This was an excellent opportunity for our students to explore local career options available to them after completing high school. We also had breakout sessions covering summer employment, apprenticeships and entrepreneurship, “We had a tremendous response from area schools, employers and our sponsors.”Jim Brintnell event coordinator
Over 40 exhibitors were on hand at the Libro Community Hall in Clinton to provide demonstrations and answer questions about careers in manufacturing, agricultural services, healthcare, municipal operations and more.
The event was sponsored by the Municipality of Central Huron, the Grey Bruce Huron Perth Crown Ward Education Championship Team, the County of Huron, Fanshawe College, Lambton College, the Four County Labour Market Planning Board, Conestoga Careers, the Centre for Employment and Learning, Partners in Employment, the Township of North Huron, the Huron Small Business Enterprise Centre, Progressive Turf and Pioneer.
Previous Industry Connects Career Fairs have been held in Wingham and Zurich.
This year’s organizing committee was made up of representatives from Fanshawe, the Centres for Employment and Learning, Conestoga Careers, the Municipality of Central Huron and the Four County Labour Market Planning Board.
