A woman was arrested after she broke into homes of high school students to search for missing library books.

The librarian, 30-year-old Kelly R. Kohler of North Dakota, was charged with illegal entry into homes.

Police began an investigation after prescription drugs went missing from several homes, Grafton Police said.

Police discovered that Kohler, was in some of the homes without the knowledge of the homeowner.

According to police, Kohler admitted that she entered two of the homes “because she wanted to locate the book American Snipe,” which was allegedly taken from the library and was never returned.

She said that the children who lived at those homes, stole the book, but police found no record of children who checked out the book.

Kohler, an employee of the Grafton public school, was charged with four counts of criminal trespass.

She appeared in the Walsh County District Court, and was released after posting $10,000 bail.
