At its Wednesday morning meeting on September 16, the St. Jude Career Alliance Ministry in Allen, TX will begin a new six-session Expert Speaker Series that features internationally-known experts on career strategies. The DFW Metroplex-based speakers at these programs will provide tips on job searches in a world of change, branding, securing interviews and what the hiring manager is thinking. This latest Expert Speaker Series will include a special Thursday morning session on September 24.

Topic:         The Progress Challenge: Working & Winning in a World of Change

Speaker:     Dean Lindsay, Internationally-Known Motivational Speaker & Author. An engaging and highly sought-after business consultant, Mr. Lindsay is the author of two books: (1) The Progress Challenge: Working & Winning in a World of Change; and (2) Cracking the Networking Code: 4 Steps to Priceless Business Relationships.  A cum laude graduate of the University of North Texas, Mr. Lindsay serves on the Executive Advisory Board for UNT’s Department of Marketing and Logistics as well as on the Board of Directors of the UNT Alumni Association.  Mr. Lindsay is also an active member of the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy and the American Society of Training & Development.  The Dallas Business Journal has recognized Mr. Lindsay as a “sales-and-networking-guru.”

Speaker:     Rick Ross, Senior Executive of Business Planning & Strategy, BT (British Telecommunications).  Mr. Ross has accumulated more than 30 years of technical and business leadership experience in wireless engineering and operations. He served as a communications petty officer for 12 years, 1983-1995, in the U.S. Navy, assigned to the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz CVN 68 and the Trident Nuclear Submarine fleet.  In 2001, Mr. Ross earned an MS degree in Data Telephony/Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.  In 1994, he earned a BSEE degree in Digital System Design & Power Distribution Systems from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.

Speaker:   Mary Vail-Grube, Management and Communications Professional. A versatile, proven leader with over 25 years of experience in public and non-profit organizations, Ms. Vail-Grube specializes in cultivating individual and organizational leadership, team building, and positive cultural change. Ms. Vail-Grube has worked for cities in Texas including Plano as Director of Marketing and Community Engagement, Allen as Assistant City Manager, and with the Arts Center of North Texas as Interim Executive Director and Administrative Director.  Ms. Vail-Grube has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University and a B.S. degree in Communications from Illinois State University.  An 18-year resident of Allen, TX, she is involved in the Allen ISD and is a Lifetime PTA member, Allen Community Outreach, Collin County Farmers Market Board of Directors, St. Jude Catholic Church and Chamberlain Ballet Board of Directors. Ms. Vail-Grube has also served on the University of Texas at Austin Parents Association Executive Board.

Speaker:     Tarsha Polk, Personal Brand Strategist, Marketing Coach, International Speaker and Author. Ms. Polk specializes in e-mail marketing, social media marketing, and personal branding for small to mid-sized firms, solopreneurs, and non-profit organizations.  She also provides corporate training for social media strategy and policy development.  Her entrepreneurial endeavors started in 2003 when she formed a marketing firm –  The Marketing Lady - to assist companies with innovative marketing solutions.  Ms. Polk is the author of the book, Beyond the Business Card: Strategic Networking for Success, and is a contributing author for the book, Faithpreneur.  Her passion to empower people to succeed in business and increase their income has led Ms. Polk to a commitment to training low income individuals and military veterans on entrepreneurship.

Topic:         Interviewing from the Other Side of the Desk

Speaker:     Jay Fusaro, Founder and Principal, Eureka Professional Services.  A nationally-known interview coach, Mr. Fusaro provides his clients with the skills and techniques necessary to successfully conduct an efficient and effective job search.  A graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, Mr. Fusaro is a CPA in the State of Texas as well as a Certified SMU Business Coach.  He was Vice President of Financial Planning for Alliance Data during their successful IPO.  Mr. Fusaro has both built and led high performing teams throughout his career and has implemented internal mentoring programs.  He has written a book titled Interviewing from the Other Side of the Desk that will be available on October 1. Mr. Fusaro has been a guest speaker at the Texas Society of CPAs’ Expo Conferences in Houston, San Antonio and Arlington.

The St. Jude Career Alliance is a ministry helping job seekers that meets at 9:00 AM every Wednesday at St. Jude Parish in Allen, TX.  Everyone is welcome and there is no charge.  .

St. Jude Catholic Church is located at 1515 North Greenville avenue, between Exchange Parkway and Stacy Road.  Attendees should park in the northeast lot and use the entrance between the church and the parish offices.

In addition to speakers and presentations at weekly Wednesday morning meetings, the ministry offers training in job search skills, support groups and job hunting resources.
