We’re down to the final visit in the series we’re calling Take Me Out to the Ballgame! We visited all of New Jersey’s ballparks this year and brought you the scoop on fun, food and baseball action you can find at all of New Jersey’s ballparks. Over the summer, we visited Campbell’s Field and the Camden Riversharks, FirstEnergy Park to see the Lakewood BlueClaws, Arm & Hammer Park and the Trenton Thunder, Newark’s Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium home to the Newark Bears and the New Jersey Jackals in Yogi Berra Stadium.
Playing in Bridgewater at TD Bank Park, the Somerset Patriots are in the middle of a Division Series matchup this week against the Sugar Land Skeeters! They are ahead 2-0 and play tonight to win the Division. Should they win, they’ll play the Liberty Division winner (either the Southern Maryland Blue Claws or the Long Island Ducks). Head over to Bridgewater and check out the Patriots this weekend!
TD Bank Park very spacious and every seat in the park had a great view of the field. We moved around to different sections throughout the night and never felt too far away from the action.
Their mascots, Sparkee in grey and Slider in tan, are always on the move around the park and the fans had a great time interacting with them. Sparkee is named after former Patriots manager and New York Yankees legend Sparky Lyle.
There’s a huge selection of food at TD Bank Park. There’s a very large concession stand with the usual burgers, hot dogs, nachos and fries. On one end of the concession stand, there’s also a Healthy Choice stand with a grilled chicken sandwich and two kinds of wraps. We loved finding healthier choices in other baseball parks around NJ and we were happy to see them here, too.
One item of interest from the main concession area was the tornado. It was only $2.50 and we had no idea what to expect when we ordered one. Turned out to be a tex-mex tacquito roll. Man, was it spicy and a nice little snack!
Behind the first base and right field seating sections, there are food carts with more adventurous foods.
The tacos from Grub Hut’s stand were really good! They had lots of meat options and we asked for one of three different kinds and they were very gracious about allowing that order. We got pulled pork, pulled chicken and beef brisket. Each meat was tender and juicy. Honestly, you could pick any one of these meats and be thrilled with your tacos. The only thing that threw us a little was that the tacos were made with flour tortillas which were a little too soft. But, the meat and spicy green salsa (mild salsa was also available) more than made up for that.
We tried a sausage and pepper sandwich from the Premio cart. The vegetables were well seasoned and chunky and the sausage was delicious.
It’s hard to pass up fresh cut french fries and we weren’t able to.
There were also quite a few beer carts on the right field side. Three right in a row!
On the left field side, there was a small bar area and a Build Your Own Burger cart. We were too full to try a burger but they looked very good and had a lot of great-sounding topping choices.
