I remember the very first time I saw an aesthetic/skin doctor, Dr SK Tan. This clinic was very very highly raved by my Indon friends (apparently all the rich Indon taitais came to this clinic!) and this clinic was.. DrX Clinic, at Tong Building.

That was about four years ago! And by strange serendipity, I've now come to IDS Clinic, opened by Dr SK Tan, that very first skin doctor that I went to, years ago. Dr SK Tan is so renown and established in the field of aesthetics that he's known as the "Ah Gong of aesthetics"!

The first time I had my consultation with Dr SK Tan, I totally didn't know what to expect! But I stepped into his consultation room and the first thing Dr SK Tan said to me was,

“So, what's wrong with your face?”

(I then started going on and on about my clogged pores, freckles, skin dullness, dark eye rings... Etc etc..) After which Dr Tan basically just laughed at me and said there was nothing wrong with my face and prescribed me the full range of products to use diligently.

Anyway.. Laziness got the better of me and I didn't use the prescribed products religiously back then, and eventually stopped going back. After which I never attained that flawless perfect skin I was after.

Well, thank goodness I managed to have the opportunity to have Dr SK Tan take care of my skin once again, at his new clinic, IDS Clinic! And now, I finally understand Dr SK Tan's philosophy and approach to skincare and aesthetics, and my respect for 'Ah Gong' really went up!

Dr SK Tan feels that most skin conditions can be treated with a suitable skincare regime of effective products that has been developed over years of research by himself and other established partners around the world, and that expensive treatments such as lasers should only be used when necessary! Sometimes you don't know whether your aesthetic doctor just wants to earn your money or not. But I am reassured that Dr SK Tan is one of the most ethical aesthetic doctors around!

Here's a shot of myself with the renown Dr SK Tan, during IDS Clinic's official opening!

If you're wondering what happened to DrX Clinic, it got bought over by a huge company and thus Dr SK Tan decided to step out to start afresh, giving birth to IDS Clinic!

I couldn't be happier to be invited down to IDS Clinic's official opening, and to have this opportunity to work together with IDS Clinic! Trust me, even if pay money I also gam wan (甘愿), cos I've seen the amazing results from many friends and acquaintances at DrX Clinic, which was the work of all the incredible products formulated by Dr SK Tan!

IDS Clinic (Innovative Dermatological Solutions) is located at Novena Specialist Centre, which is easily accessible from Novena MRT! Extremely convenient for me, thankfully.

The IDS Clinic was conceived with one end in mind – to offer the most innovative and effective treatments at affordable and reasonable prices, without sacrificing quality and professionalism.

And check out these shelves: it's The IDS Clinic's very own skincare range, created and formulated by Dr SK Tan himself!

A key feature of The IDS Clinic is the use of its very own clinical skincare range. Conceived and developed over several years, IDS skincare products were designed specifically to address the most common skin problems that Dr SK Tan has seen in over two decades of clinical experience. And, unlike consumer skincare for the mass market where cost may be a major inhibiting factor, IDS’s products have been scientifically formulated to deliver maximum efficacy, using cutting-edge ingredients in optimal concentrations, and rigorously tested by dermatologists. Some of these ingredients are patent-pending and unavailable anywhere else.

Dr SK Tan's wall of fame.. These are just some of his certification in the medical field up on this wall! He has been in this profession even before I was born!

A year ago, I never would have thought my skin would even recover from the worst breakout of my life.

Unedited photos straight from the iPhone. This was my skin last year around the first half of the year. And these photos are not the worst! :(

I've always had *okay* skin all my life, with the usual oily T-zone, occasional pimples and clogged pores/blackheads. But last year my skin went from "okay" to a whole new level of "damn bad". The skin was so horrid it got me really depressed! Self-esteem was at an all-time low and I dreaded waking up every morning to find new spots.

With my job scope and the amount of people I meet on a daily basis: you can only imagine how it felt to wake up to huge bouts of acne consistently for months. It really affected my confidence level and gave me so much stress.

The worst part is not knowing the cause of it: was it hormonal? Was it a make up or skin care product I was using? Was it my hair? Was it bacteria on my pillow?! I serious had no clue, and no matter what I tried to do (change products, put a lot of pimple cream, get my pillows washed) was to no avail.

So as some of you may know already, I was put on a 7-month course of Roaccutane, which is one of the strongest medication for acne problems. But it's not good cos it's super expensive and also has bad side effects! I think I spent at least a few thousand dollars just on the medication and consultation alone, sighhh. Thank God, it did work to clear up those horrible pimples, and I pray that I will never have to go through such an unpleasant period again.

After stopping Roaccutane, my skin slowly went from dry to becoming oiler, and also I could feel that clogged pores were once again appearing on my face. But you can't take Roaccutane forever, because it is really not recommended for long-term dosage, plus it may cause fetal anomalies if you decide to get pregnant! Scary.

Skin care is something that I feel is of absolute importance for everyone, because your face is the first part of the body you look at everyday, and is certainly what others see, too. And good skin care starts from daily maintenance, and using effective skincare products, such as IDS Clinic's.

I went down for my consultation at IDS Clinic just a couple of months ago. During your first consultation, you'd be asked to take photographs of your face and skin, to serve as medical records for future reference.

Again, Dr SK Tan said that I didn't need any procedures to be done on me yet, and prescribed me an entire range of skincare products to use! Ah well, can't be lazy when it comes to your face.

You'd also be taught how to use the products and in which sequence.. No worries about that!

And these are the products I brought home!

Now, my daily routine both morning and night goes like this:

C2 Gentle Cleanser:
This gentle cleanser has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant botanical extracts, and I love how gentle it is cos it does't dry out my skin after usage!

T1 Purifying Toner:
I follow up right after cleanser with a few sprays of the toner, and pat it into my skin. The spray dispenser is really fuss-free to use!

Pore:
Having clear, clean pores is the first step towards a blemish-free complexion. This helps to minimise excess oil production, and reduces blackheads and whiteheads! It's really an amazing product, I feel that my blackheads are greatly reduced with regular use of this. You just need a small amount on areas prone to clogged pores and pimples, like your T-zone!

A-Plus Age-Preventive Care:
It's never too early to start fighting against ageing, and A-plus uses a patented retinoid with antioxidants to encourage cell regeneration without irritation to your skin, resulting in finer and firmer skin!

C-Plus Multi-tasking Age-fighter:
IDS Clinic's star product that contains potent Vitamin C to tackle wrinkles, loss of firmness, uneven skin tone, dark spots and acne! After a few days of using this, you'd find that your skin looks brighter and feels smoother and tauter! I love C-Plus!

S2 Sunscreen SPF50 Non-Tinted:
A very important but often neglected step of skincare: sun protection! I can't emphasise enough (and neither can Dr SK Tan) about how damaging the sun rays can be! This might be one of my favourite sunscreens of all time, I love that the texture of this is non-oily, and doesn't feel thick or greasy! No white undercast too and my makeup goes on very well after this!

Spot:
This is a powerful spot treatment that reduces and shrinks blemishes fast! Cool thing is that it comes with a BB cream-like base which helps to conceal blemishes at the same time! I'll tell you what's even cooler, I've hardly even had to use this because I haven't had any spots at all whilst on my IDS regime! *touch wood*

Scrub:
I super love this scrub! It exfoliates gently and has a warm sensation when you use it to gently scrub your skin, which feels really good! The scrub contains ultra-fine crystals that exfoliates dead skin cells and speeds up skin turnover. And it is so gentle that you can use it everyday! I love how my skin always feels extra clean, soft and smooth after the scrub!

❤❤❤

I've been using the entire IDS range very religious for the past 2 months, and even when I was travelling, I brought along the whole range with me! Very dedicated because I believe regular usage will produce results!

Though it seems like there are a lot of products to be piled on every day, it actually takes me less than 10 minutes honestly, and I love the textures of all the products because they are all so lightweight and comfortable on the skin!

I'm very happy to say that my skin has been looking good so far, (*touch wood again*) and I've hardly had to worry about breaking out, while clogged pores are really really few and almost non-existent. Even my previous blemishes and pigmentation (you've seen how bad they were in the above pictures) have slowly started to lighten!

I used to have all these blemishes, and they have slowly been fading and healing, and now with IDS products, I believe they will eventually all disappear! *fingers crossed*

Apart from using IDS products, I also did a very mild micro-laser treatment at IDS Clinic just a couple of weeks ago, that has virtually zero down-time, it just felt like a mild sunburn for a few days! Then my skin started peeling very slightly, and in about a week's time, I saw visible improvement in the clarity and texture of my skin :O

Unedited pictures of my current skin condition/texture taken just a couple of days ago!

My skin really just looks SO much better these days, with improved radiance, texture, and clarity! I haven't been worrying about pimples for the longest time, and even my annoying pigmentation is slowly but surely getting lighter.

I'm so thankful that I am a long way away from those pimply days of yesteryear, and I couldn't be happier about it! It is such a huge sigh of relief to wake up everyday to clear skin, and not having to spend thirty minutes carefully concealing blemishes and piling on foundation in the mornings, really.

Hoping to see even more improvement in my skin, what with the big day coming up, I'm under a fair bit of stress to look my best! I can't wait to see what else IDS Clinic has in-store for me!

Thank you so much Dr SK Tan, and Chester, for taking such good care of me! :')

I love it that I only need sunscreen and light coverage with a BB cream/cushion plus some concealer on my under eyes to look presentable nowadays. So glad that my skin is now back in the trusty hands of Dr SK Tan again, and with even more advanced and effective skincare technology than before!
