Hey loves! I know it’s been a while since I last did my planner-related post. Truth be told, ever since I started my Beauty Bound Asia journey, I was no longer able to fill up/decorate my planner as regularly as I used to. I wont bore you with the details but last December, I promised to myself that starting 2016, I wont do that anymore. I’ve been watching a ton of planner vids featuring different types of planners and my top choices were actually between this, and the Erin Condren Life Planner.
Okay. Before we continue, this is no longer an unboxing. I don’t know why I called it that. Call this a review instead. Anyway, the main reason why I chose this one instead is because it’s about half the price. The Erin Condren life planner, though it’s pretty, and well, everywhere on YouTube, is worth about $50-$75 dollars, depending on its coil/spring. I may be wrong. Feel free to correct me. But this one is only $12.48-$34.99. I got the kit, which is the $34.99. The one that’s worth $12.48 is the 2015-2016 planner, but what’s good about these planners is that you can easily remove the months from 2015 so you’re all good. (I’ll get to the removing part later).
The The Happy Planner™ 12 Month Box Kit – Best Days contains the following:
12 Months non-dated Monthly & Weekly Pages
I’m kinda half-and-half about this non-dated thing. Perhaps because I was too excited that I must’ve overlooked that tiny detail. It’s good if you’re excellent in calligraphy, have a beautiful handwriting or you have those date stamps (I’m referring to the acrylic ones). But for me, my handwriting sucks so this can be a problem. Nevertheless, I still kinda like it because it allows me to be more creative. Besides, I can still buy those stamps if I want to. Hehe.
However, you will also be given 12 sets of number/daily stickers (1-31) then 2 sets of your monthly stickers, one for your dividers/tabs then one for your monthly sheets. Still, with regard to the daily stickers, you’re still going to end up writing the dates either on your monthly or weekly pages. Depending on how you use it.
As for the paper, I like how thick they are. Sure, there may be some bleeding when using marker-type pens, but when just using my Coleto or my Uni pens, the paper’s fine. Each month also rotate up to four colors all throughout the entire planner, and you can see these colors from the divider (which I will get to later) up to the pages. This can be a bit hard especially if you decorate your planner like me because sometimes the theme doesn’t really match your decoration so you end up covering majority of the page. Especially with this new planner, the weekend boxes are fully colored so I end up covering all of them if I have a let’s say pink-colored theme in my weekly spread, and the current month is colored teal.
They also changed the layout a bit. They transferred the “Morning”, “Afternoon” and “Evening” category at the left side of each page, requiring an extra washi tape in order to cover it up. lol.
But don’t get me wrong, I’m still in love with this planner. Like I said, I decorate this planner, so these cons are easy to fix.
12 Months non-dated Dividers
As mentioned, the dividers’ tabs are non-dated so one of the sticker’s monthly set will go here. I love these dividers. They’re filled with inspirational quotes and their background images are also beautiful. They’re not pixelated and the print’s quality is amazing. I find myself staring at them from time to time.
4 Sheets of Stickers
These stickers, as mentioned, includes the dates and months that will help you with your planner, along with some extras such as birthdays, note to self, reminder stickers. Basically some stuff that you need to give your planner a bit of pizzazz.
Notes & Pocket Folder
Where you can place your receipts, stickers, post it notes, rulers, etc. I personally put my basic stickers here and then a ruler to cut my washi tapes.
At the very last page, you also have a ruled page allowing you to jot down some important stuff
5 Sticky Note Pads & 3 Magnetic Book Marks
The Sticky Note Pads contain 20 sheets each and they fit right in to the weekly boxes. They’re really pretty and they’re also a bit thick. They’re sticky enough so they can stick in place to your planner but they’re not too sticker that you’ll end up ruining either your sticky notes or your page.
The magnets are pretty. One’s a black & white heart, one’s an arrow that says “Right Now” and one’s a pink floral flag. I love all of them but I place them as more of an accent. I don’t use them as a bookmark. hehe.
What I also love about The Happy Planner is that it’s disc-bound therefore you can fully customize it to your heart’s content. These discs are also removable and you can buy bigger discs at the MAMBI website if you would like to expand your planner. MAMBI sells “extension packs” (fitness, recipe, wedding, etc) so you can combine them to your existing Happy Planner. Just buy bigger discs then you’re good to go.
You can add/remove pages just like I mentioned before. So if you decorate your pages like me, you can take them off then put it back on when you’re done. You can add some journal cards, dashboards, etc. I personally use a one-hole punch then cut some slits so i can add bookmarks, project life cards. You can also buy the Lavenger Portable Punch at Amazon if you want. I’m planning to buy that one. Hehehe.
The covers are removable as well so you can totally make your own cover, print and laminate it, so you make your planner a bit more personalized.
All in all, I am very happy with my Me and My Big Ideas The Happy Planner™ 12 Month Box Kit – Best Days. I never regretted that I got this instead of Erin Condren because I love removing the pages then putting them back on when I’m done (just be careful with the edges).
Like I said, it’s a lot more affordable and I know that if I converted it to peso, and if I paid for the shipping, I’ll go bankrupt. This planner is already worth Php 2,800 including the shipping, (I preordered it last year from Makeovershop at Instagram but I saw it in Shoppee for a lot less) and to think I was planning to get their sticker book. Perhaps next time
So there you go. Those are my thoughts about he Happy Planner™ 12 Month Box Kit. If you prefer the $12.48 planners, I still saw some IG shops carrying them for Php 1,500. Just remove the months July-December 2015. I think they’re still a bargain.
How about you? What are your thoughts about The Happy Planner? Do you own one? What type of planner do you have? Are you also a planner girl like moi? Do you like decorating planners? Let me know!
