Position Title: Maturity & IP Lead (SEPG)

This position is responsible for driving the quality of work we are performing for customers and measuring through variety of methods. The key aspects of the role are to own the process repository, definition of processes guidelines and development of templates for the entire delivery life cycle and entire service lines and support functions. In addition SEPG is also responsible for defining metrics at project level and also at org level. This role will have to analyze the process performance through various data sources such as Audit reports, NCR’s, Process tailoring and proactively conducting process groups meetings with the user community. Work closely with Delivery Excellence roles and tools team and be accountable for the processes, procedures, guidelines and templates and their compliance with CMMI level 5 requirements. SEPG will also be responsible for driving DX initiatives such as estimation, TQA etc. This position will work closely with the WW SBD teams to ensure consistency in processes and procedures. The purpose of the group is to be the central owner of the process management and provide required guidance and standards to perform various activities at GD.

Responsibilities:

Overall

o Leading the SEPG activities across the projects and Practices

o Responsible for driving customer satisfaction thru quality mgmt.., to ensure attainment of metrics & goals

o Ensure clarity and definition of delivery metrics in projects

o Updating the Quality related training programs in collaboration with readiness team

o Metrics data collection and Analysis

o Define/Refine and Monitor defect prevention activities in projects

o Identify and fix the Process gaps and communicate to all stakeholders

o Maintain Organization-wide Knowledge Base Repository (Best Practices, Learnings, Sample Documents, Tools)

o Participate in Project Initiation and Closures

o Establish Methodologies Function and industry benchmarks.

o Establish Methodologies implementation plan for the Domains and Account Aligned teams collaborating with Domain SAO, Account Aligned teams, WW DE and readiness teams and ensuring they are centrally consolidated in SDM Plus.

o Drive multiyear continuous improvement for implemented solution methods based on field f/b & learnings

o Drive shared responsibility along with DE leads, Domain SAO and Account Aligned team for achieving usage of recommended solution methods, long term delivery capability and quality culture.

o Orchestrate necessary updates and improvements to solution methods, simplification and unification of solution methods where applicable, consistency and predictability across WW for Domain and account aligned delivery.

o Collaborate with delivery management tools team to implement the solution methods and driving consistency in usage of delivery management tools & best practices across Domains and Accounts towards as One Services team

o Be an evangelist of emerging industry best practices in services and its alignment with solution methods to improve the agility and efficiency through solution methods

o Owner of methodology IP and represent Microsoft services across various forums within and outside Microsoft

o Provide overall IP governance in line with the published IP Plan during Pre-Sales, Delivery and Support phases of the project

o Work closely with CAO and Domains to ensure IP Targets are met by the respective Domains

o Loop back appropriate IP related feedback from the Domains to Tools and CAO Teams

Key Success Criteria

Ø Business Management

Plan, track and report productivity improvement measures and their results to senior management, includes setting up of delivery excellence measures for predictable delivery.

Report Cost of Quality to senior management by measuring the effort spent and setup process to capture metrics.

Conduct reviews & SW release inspections in projects, and perform causal analysis.

Analyze Customer feedback/surveys and report findings to ensure we achieve our top box metrics

Prepare and deploy organization wide plans for continuous process improvement

Ø Integrate within Microsoft

Drive integration and balance of existing Microsoft delivery standards with industry best practices taking into consideration current organizational business model

Establish key contacts in MS business groups & WW communities. Ensure two-way flow of best practices. Look to drive innovation into delivery through key Microsoft product group practices and technology adoption.

Ensure processes address the needs of project delivery and other support functions

Ø Process Improvement

Drive organizational achievement towards CMMI level 5 certification.

Provide process support for efficiency models such as Sig Sigma or Lean, where ever applicable

Collect feedback & inputs focused toward maintenance & enhancement of existing & new programs/processes

Ensure that processes capture customer driven needs and add value to customer, based on customer feedback.

Plan, Track and report defect prevention measures to senior management

Knowledge and Skills

Background in Quality management of Software Project/Program Management and service delivery of complex deals to large corporate customers or an equivalent combination of education and proven work history. At least 12 years of experience

Thorough knowledge in implementing Quality frameworks (CMMI, ISO, ITIL etc)

Thorough knowledge of CMMI framework

Experience in SQA Activities

Conducting internal audits.

Defining and reviewing the metrics.

Defining the processes and laying down the QMS procedures/templates & checklists.

Conducting configuration audits.

Six Sigma Experience - Desired

Excellent Communication, Training & Presentation Skills

Technical / Functional Skills

Expertise in Project Management Essentials (planning, controlling, managing projects), contracting & deal structure of complex services transactions. Strong Mgmt., skills & ability to work closely across diverse groups.

Proficiency in related tools is required: MS Project, MS Project Server (optional), SharePoint(optional)

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelor degree in engineering (B.E/B.Tech) or equivalent

CMMI ATM experience

Desired to have PMP, CSM and ITIL certifications.

ISO auditor (Surveillance, Lead or IQA)

CSQA certified - Preferred - but not mandatory
