Main Job Purpose
Compliance
Ensure PC products are compliant to local regulations and that all necessary pre-market approvals and licenses are in place.
Ensure all label artwork, claims made on print and electronic media comply with existing regulations, in collaboration with other stakeholders e.g. legal, R&D, claims etc.
Implement new/changes in legislations together with Regional RA and other business partners.
Ensure that all imported cosmetics are registered as per the existing regulations in concurrence with the respective categories
Identify the areas, where HUL will need to comply to biodiversity regulations and facilitate the business and R&D to obtain the necessary approvals for research, patenting and commercial use of Indian bio-resources
Innovation
Provide clear and detailed regulatory assessments to innovation projects all across the innovation funnel and ensure compliance to all relevant regulations.
Participate in PC claims forum and help business deliver bold claims while ensuring risk is mitigated
Advocacy
Prepare justifications for HUL/Industry positions for influencing the regulators for making/amending the regulations related to PC category
Standards revision as relevant to category and for novel innovations that are limited by the standards
Works closely with Legal to liaise with local regulatory authorities on regulatory matters, as required
Build strong engagement with key state & national regulators as determined by the Director

Accurate, relevant and timely input into the innovation process and risk assessment of projects.
Ensure that all necessary data and documentation required supporting
product & claims
is submitted to regulatory bodies and necessary approvals obtained to enable
the launch of regional projects

Ensure that products developed for regional roll-out comply with the regulations & requirements of target markets.
Map, build and maintain influential relationships with key
stakeholders.

Horizon varies depending on tasks. Input to issue management needs urgent turnaround.

Input to innovation will average on a 3 month to 1-year horizon.

Strategic Lobbying activities could involve 1 year and above.

PERSONAL PROFILE
The person should preferably be, at least a postgraduate in science (chemistry, biology, environment science, pharmacy, cosmetics technology, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology)
Other requirements are:
5-10 years Experience/exposure to working in technical aspects of Cosmetics/Household Cleaning/Laundry.
Experience in regulatory affairs and/or claims substantiation pertaining to PC category will be desirable.
1 to 2 years Working Experience/exposure to work with industry associations/Government departments/Scientific bodies will be desirable.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to communicate complex technical and regulatory provisions into clear simple messages
Ability to work in areas where clarity is lacking and sound judgement is required
Ability to plan and deliver against tight deadlines
Capability in data mining and preparing crisp and science based notes
Confidence to liaise with different functions, industry association members
and Senior Management
Capability to draft letters/representations to officials & associations
Ability to work with different teams within and outside HUL ecosystem
Knowledge of PC categories is desirable
