# Description
Recovery Solution Architect \- RSA
Location: India\-Pune
Description
About the Position:
The Recovery Solution Architect \(RSA\) for the Managed Recovery Program is responsible for complete and robust architecture of client disaster recovery solutions beginning at the client’s site during the Managed Recovery Program Onboarding Workshop\. The RSA will leverage backup and recovery Best Practices and use this as a guide to document the recovery solution design for our clients\. To accomplish this, the RSA must be broad in skill across multiple platforms, OS’s, and databases\. The RSA leads client discovery toward development of detailed recovery procedure documentation \(RPD\) by a team of Procedure Documentation specialists\. Execution of RPD during recovery tests validates RSA solution design, while delivering a highly successful client recovery test experience\.
Responsibilities
The Recovery Solution Architect \(RSA\) is responsible for development of the client recovery solution design, leveraging industry backup and recovery Best Practices\. In collaboration with the client and consultation with other RSA’s, the RSA is responsible for the solution design which aligns with Best Practices and addresses client RTO/RPO goals\. The Recovery Solution Architect is responsible for technical leadership during client onboarding workshops and designing and documenting the disaster recovery client solution\. The RSA will lead technical engagement with the customer’s technical teams as well as members of the MRP Solution Architect Team, and other Sungard Availability Services teams to gain a thorough understanding of the client Application Environment so that detailed disaster recovery technical strategy and procedure documentation is developed and used in subsequent DR Test Validation and Customer DR Testing\. Specific responsibilities of the Recovery Solution Architect include:
Customer Solution
• Lead Client Onboarding Workshops and conduct “detailed discovery analysis” with an eye toward development of a recovery solution design and Recovery Procedure Documentation required to execute the design solution At Time of Test \(ATOT\)
• Analyzing customer solutions relative to industry Best Practices
• Provide documented Best Practice recommendations to improve customer’s recovery solution
• Ability to navigate client DR solutions identifying “what” needs to be recovered and “how” recovery ought to be accomplished
• Provide “consultative” advisory services and deliver “value added” solutions within the Client’s DR Strategy leveraging Best Practices to improve the Client’s overall Recovery Maturity
Physical Configuration Due Diligence
• Conduct onsite interviews with customer technical teams to review all configuration documents and records, network configurations and volumes
• Identify existing HA configurations, storage volumes and configurations
• Identify technology dependencies, current backup methodologies and technologies, critical components and recovery priorities
• Capture available performance requirements and availability benchmarks, relevant OLAs and SLAs, and current RTO and RPO objectives
• Assess recovery priorities, technology dependencies and alternatives, recovery dependencies, current recovery plans, and current RTO against current configuration that will contribute to an overall recovery “playbook” execution ATOT/ATOD\.
• Establish documented reports for the infrastructure configuration assessment, infrastructure recovery assessment, dependencies and gaps
• Define an opportunity analysis covering virtualization, consolidation and Advanced Recovery Assessment of the current RTO objectives
• Document all preliminary design findings with available architecture configuration overview diagrams
Application Configuration Due Diligence
• Conduct onsite interviews with customer application teams to obtain a full listing of critical, internal and externally hosted business applications
• Review and understand the application classification, tiers and dependencies and capture any relevant application to host mappings
• Document an overview of application functions and business owners and identify available and required app\-ware tools utilized in the environment
• Identify associated batch processing and maintenance needs
• Capture relevant application OLAs and SLAs as well as current application RTO and RPO objectives
• Establish the critical application inventory and load the obtained application configuration information into the customer configuration repository \(CCR\)
• Validate the application configuration information against the infrastructure configuration and the contracted commitment
• Perform a gap analysis of required application configuration information to be submitted by the customer and certify application baseline information with the customer
• Review all current critical application plans and software development life cycles
• Provide an assessment of the application technology dependencies and alternatives, application recovery dependencies, and the RTO against the current configuration
• Document the application configuration and application recovery assessments, and dependencies and gaps
• Provide an opportunity analysis covering virtualization, consolidation and Advanced Recovery assessment of the current RTO objectives
Recovery Procedure Documentation:
• Ensure Standard Recovery Best Practices are executed as part of the Client Recovery Test Solution
• Identify instances where the recovery procedures do not reconcile between the physical and application configuration respectively
• Provide oversight of multiple Disaster Recovery Procedure Development projects involving various Sungard Availability Services personnel, contractors and vendors
• Participate with MRP Solution Delivery Managers \(SDM\) to conduct meetings with clients to review project status and review developed procedures and effectively manage client expectations
• Be accountable for the quality and consistency of the developed application recovery procedures leveraging Sungard Availability Services Procedure Documentation Team
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technology discipline
Experience
• At least 10 yrs of experience architecting production solutions
• Disaster Recovery design experience is a plus, especially involving P è V and BMR solutions
• At least 1 year of consulting experience
