Job Description: We are seeking a Senior Cloud QA Engineer with extensive experience working in a complex computing environment to join our cloud operations team\. You will work as part of a team that provides operational support for systems and services in our cloud infrastructure environments\. The Cloud QA Engineer will be responsible for writing and implementing test plans to validate pre\-GA/GA code prior to implementation in production\. The engineer will interact directly with internal QE and R&D teams as well as the cloud operations and deployment teams to ensure high\-quality deployments that will in turn ensure availability SLA’s are met\.
Responsibilities:
\-Test execution, automation, coverage improvement and providing debug support
\- Coordinate with development and deployment teams for VMware virtualization product testing
\- Analyze risks, create risk\-based Test Plans and implement test initiatives
\- Participate in design and code reviews
\- Coordinate with Cloud Operations team\(s\) for troubleshooting, maintenance, capacity management, and architectural design and deployment of next\-generation clouds
\- Participate in programs to deploy pre\-GA products, and provide direct feedback to product management and engineering
\- Review entire environment and execute initiatives to reduce failures, and improve overall performance
\- Document architectures, procedures, and processes for use by other cloud operators
\- Keep up to date on VMware technologies
\- Apply innovative testing to further improve quality of products
\- Communicate technical dependencies and concerns/issues of implementations
Basic Qualifications:
\- Excellent oral and written communication skills; including documentation
\- Ability to handle multiple complex tasks, with tight deadlines concurrently
\- Ability to perform well in a dynamic environment, with on\-time delivery
\- Demonstrate ability to use problem\-solving techniques such as root cause analysis to resolve issues
\- Demonstrate ability to write and present effective materials, including presentations, status reporting, technical diagrams and flowcharts
\- Ability to follow and adhere to policies, procedures and standards relating to Systems management
\- Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope requiring in\-depth evaluation
\- Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions
\- Require limited supervision and direction; drive results and set priorities independently
\- Ability to work an on\-call rotation schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
\- 4\+ years experience writing test plans and test automation
\- 2\+ years hands on experience with VMware Virtual Center/vSphere or other VMware enterprise products
\- Expert programming experience using one or more structured languages \(python/Java/C\+\+\)
\- Experience coding to product APIs
\- Knowledge of Red Hat, Centos, Ubuntu, and Windows operating systems
\- VMware Certified Profession \(VCP\) or equivalent working experience
Education:
\- BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience
