The primary purpose of this role is to install, implement, configure, upgrade, and optimize the performance of application systems and databases required to operate Allscripts software Development and QA environments.
Establish, manage and maintain the Allscripts Hosting Solutions storage and backup infrastructure that meets agreed functional requirements and customer expectations
+ Be a contributing engineer in storage/backup technologies in order to ensure Allscripts delivers the most cost effective, consistent, resilient, secure, scalable and supportable designs and implementations for the business and our customers
+ Execute service requests in relation to routine storage/backup administration and build
+ Perform storage/backup environment troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common storage problems
+ Participate in regular change management, incident management, and problem management processes
+ Support and execute pro-active improvements by assessing past problems and current weaknesses in the existing system and/or application infrastructure
+ Collaborate with other systems engineers on infrastructure engineering to support design and implementation of comprehensive technical infrastructure for all Hosting Solution
+ Execute plans for proactive system fixes that prevent incidents that impact availability and user experience from occurring
+ Work directly with project management groups to help manage implementation of storage infrastructure projects from a technical, educational, and documentation creation
+ Write procedures for installation, use, or troubleshooting of storage hardware and/or software
+ Work on-call as needed to assist in resolving critical issues or project implementations
+ Have engineering focus and action that reduces TCO as well as maintains and/or exceeds expected service levels
Infrastructure focus on business continuity and continuous improvement
+ Provide storage/backup infrastructure & BCDR deployment support, software management, system troubleshooting, performance engineering and optimization, and maintenance
+ Support delivery against the technology roadmap in the storage/backup & BCDR space and work with other engineers on implementation and management of solutions
+ Support conceptual, logical, or physical storage designs with associated documentation (including BCDR components, strategies and standards)
+ Support the operation of the Business Continuity plan as it relates to ongoing processes around backup, recovery practices, media management, and long term retention procedures
+ Support Disaster Recovery planning and testing initiatives
+ Continually update understanding of business and technology status and objectives and respond to strategic design requests as the business evolves

Qualifications:
+ Strong background (3+ years) in storage technologies including File, Block, RAID, NAS, SAN, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, FCOE, and IP Storage
+ Strong background (3+ years) in storage solutions from EMC, NetApp, Pure, Tintri, Brocade and/or others
+ Experience with storage management inclusive of administration, implementation, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, system management, as well as forward thinking pro-active management
+ Strong background (3+ years) in backup/recovery software, processes and technologies
+ Strong background (3+ years) in backup/recovery solutions from CommVault, EMC (Data Domain, Avamar), and NetApp
+ Proven ability to troubleshoot storage/backup environments using vendor utilities and 3rd party tools
+ Strong understanding of storage communication protocols
+ Experience in storage analyzers, sniffers and ability to decode storage traffic in a datacenter environment
+ Background (2+ years) working with virtualization technologies from VMware and Microsoft (Hyper-V)
+ Experience with Microsoft OS/Server technologies inclusive of IIS, SQL Server, SCOM, AD, etc)
+ Experience with Linux OS
+ Experience with PowerShell and ideally other scripting technologies, used to automate deployment, monitoring, and/or to implement corrective actions across a large remote hosted environment a plus
+ Professional certifications a plus + (EMC, Pure, Tintri, NetApp, Brocade, VMware, Microsoft, etc)
+ Experience with Cisco (UCS and Nexus) a plus +
+ Previous cloud hosting/hosting experience a plus +
Academic and professional qualifications:
+ Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or relevant technical experience
Travel requirements:
+ As needed based upon project requirements
