Global Technology Infrastructure Compute (GTI Compute) is responsible for managing the firm's global server and storage portfolio's across plan, build and operate functions. The organization is transforming into a Managed Services provider for JPMC and drives product management, engineering standards and productivity initiatives in support of the Managed Services. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) within JPMorgan Chase’s Global Technology Infrastructure group develops and operates one of the world’s largest enterprise compute environments providing compute, storage and hosting platforms. The massive scale supports a diversity of business applications to one of the largest banking institutions in the US.

The L3 organisation builds on these objectives by partnering with our L4 engineering teams to deliver measurable service improvements into the L2 support model.

In the role of IaaS L3 UNIX Lead, you will be expected to have strong hands on technical experience of Infrastructure technologies (Virtualization, Compute, Storage, NW) & Automation enabling you to act as a subject matter expert for the global team. Your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:

•Acting as an escalation point in the region, both from your immediate team and other support teams in the firm.

•Working closely with Level 4 engineering to feed into requirements, testing and documentation.

•Interfacing with internal consumers, inputting into technical solutions, advising on best practice and validating new implementations.

•Identifying & Driving automation and efficiencies through the use of expert scripting skills.

•Ensuring the infrastructure is stable and resilient at all times by working to produce monitors and reporting that allow our operate teams to drive issues to resolution.

•Working closely with the global demand and capacity team to ensure continuous availability of services.

•Working with vendors in problem isolation and resolution.

•Developing and promoting standard operating procedures and creating processes and tooling for operation efficiency.

Individual responsibilities

•Drive infrastructure automation opportunities through your deep knowledge of scripting languages

•Engage with infrastructure partners to identify, scope and design new opportunities

•Identify operational and infrastructure risks within the environment and work with the application development team and Operate teams to make corrections and mitigate risks

•Identify opportunities for simplification of repetitive tasks and ultimately automation of such tasks

•Liaise with other Core Engineers in troubleshooting complex, cross-platform issues

•Test new builds, new scripts and new processes, identify variance in support model and document and train where appropriate L2 teams

•Complete requests for automation and scripting submitted to the team via Jira

Primary Skills:

•Proven record in a Senior Engineer capacity

•12-15 years of experience in RedHat Enterprise 4.x, 5.x 6

•7 years of VERITAS cluster/ Linux cluster hands on experience

•Experience in HP, Sun, Dell, Cisco ucs hardware in a business critical environment.

•Experience Virutal Server Infrastructure Environment

•Experience in Storage Technologies mainly EMC and Hitachi SAN

•Experience in Linux customized RPM packages

•Good programming skills with Python, awk, sed, Shell script (Bourne, C, Korn)

•Solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking - ability to use and understand output of tcpdump/snoop technology

•Must be well-organized, responsible, have good verbal and written communication skills, and able to multitask in dynamic support environment

•Proactively enhance skill set, keep up to date with the latest technologies and influences in the industry

•Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to drive problems to successful conclusion
