Technology & Operations

Investment Operations: Is responsible for the development of the firm's operating infrastructure to support BlackRock's investment businesses worldwide\. IO establishes and coordinates operational processes and procedures internally and externally with clients, custodians, prime brokers, broker\-dealers and other vendors and is responsible for managing BlackRock's broker\-dealer and custodian bank relationships\.

Team Overview

BlackRock’s Global Corporate Actions team has primary operating centers in Edinburgh \(UK\), Wilmington, Delaware \(US\), Gurgaon \(India\) and Singapore\. Our objective is to manage and provide a high quality Corporate Action service in accordance with our standards of best practice through the application of governance and controls designed to mitigate risk to the Firm and our Clients\. The team operates as a single, global entity designed around a robust and mature “pass\-the\-book” philosophy allowing effective and controlled transition of workload across our primary locations\.

Role Responsibility

• Ensure all all CoAc events have been processed correctly, QC checks done as appropriate, all entitlements reconciled and restrictions lifted, divided income on on\-loan positions claimed back etc

• Escalate issues as appropriate

• Manage any queries received from various internal and external parties\.

• Build partnerships with internal and external parties to help gain efficiencies

• Identify and mitigate all material risk items and service issues and escalate to your Manager/ global teams on a timely basis

• Regular communication with Global team managers to facilitate and support the global team structure

• Participate and contribute in local, regional and global initiatives/projects in conjunction with the Global Corporate Actions team

• Manage of team size of 5 team members and ensure the career planning and performance management of individual team members

• Ensure delivery and completion off all the tasks as per agreed SLA and various system/market dependent deadlines

• Develops industry networks to stay abreast of developments\. Use client feedback to generate innovative solutions and delivers initiatives to capitalize on strengths and market opportunities

• Create & Project a transparent view of productivity / other metrics to Manager and function to capitalize on any lean time and effectively use all resources

margin & collateral management using the common platform Aladdin to manage risk\.

• Partner with Investment Operations teams globally to present a consistent client experience catalyzing a common culture\.

• Provide client service by providing scalability and leverage in the investment lifecycle process\.

• Play a prominent role in the strategic build out of a core operating center aimed to specialize in functions using a ‘follow the sun’ model\.

• Manage own & team workload; determine appropriate priorities and provide timely and accurate distribution of standard and custom reports\.

• Understand flow of client and fund information and data between various groups and systems\.

• Review the work of peers and Analysts; ensure accuracy and enforce compliance rules as applied to fund performance reporting\.

• Support and complete various efficiency and capacity\-building intiatives, including automation/ standardization efforts, and representing IO in global projects\.

• Participate in cross training efforts on all IO functions\.

• Train new IO associates in all basic functions of position requirements\. Ensure complete knowledge transfer of all operational and compliance procedures\.

• Constantly evaluate systems, processes and procedures for inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvement\.

Experience

• 5 – 8 years of relevant experience

• BS/BA in business, finance or related field

• Previous experience of working in a global organization preferred

• Understanding of financial markets and related instruments

• A strong emphasis on time management in addition to being well organized and detail –oriented

• Team player with attention to details, problem solving abilities, and analytical skills

• Ability to multi task

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning new applications

• The ability to perform effectively in an environment of rapid and continual change
