Position Purpose:

TheCloud Strategy Architectis considered strategic expert in the architecture space with expert and advanced knowledge to independently conduct the most complex analysis and activities. Responsible for managing a large portfolio of architecture solutions, with a long term outlook. This includes: architecture strategy and planning, business partnering, relationship management and consulting, governance and portfolio management, architecture definition methodology, and people and budget management.

The Cloud Strategy Architect gains valuable experience by understanding Cargill business and enterprise process strategy at a high level, working in ambiguity, developing networks across the organization, and contributing thought leadership, strategic recommendations and action to help solve challenging problems for the platform.

The responsibilities of this position will include working with and partnering with teams predominantly located in North American and primarily in the US Central Timezone of Cargill s corporate headquarters (Hopkins, MN).

Priority Goals (in order of priority) The Cloud Strategy Architect:

Is a Core member of the Cloud Domain Governance Triangle , a partnership between the three technology towers (Enterprise Architecture and Risk, Global IT Infrastructure and TCS) responsible for maintaining alignment between the Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and Operations Domains while providing technology and investment guidance and governance to our evolving IT value chain and our Enterprise end state goals.

Is a Core member of the Cloud Center of Excellence and works closely with Enterprise Technology Architecture Lead, Cloud Domain Architect, Cloud CoE Core team peers, Cargill s Cloud Hosting Partners and Cloud technology industry experts to validate and refine Cargill s Cloud strategy and supporting documentation. Also responsible for determining business capability requirements, prioritizing, and defining the roadmap for service offering development based on evolving business requirements and technology/industry advancements.

Thinks strategically and creatively to determine how innovative cloud capabilities can be developed by combining industry marketplace leaders and strategic partners solutions to develop and implement new ways of delivering IT (i.e. - bi-modal, cloud based DR, cloud tiering and data archival

Creates Cloud Service scorecards for reporting status and progress of Cargill s Cloud journey to all levels of IT and business management utilizing Key Performance Indicators, TLM results, financial and provisioning metrics and other relevant data points.

Works with Triangle peers (TGRC, Infrastructure Domain and TCS) and strategic partners to develop, pilot and create turnkey Cloud solution offerings for new business capabilities. Also maintains inventory of existing cloud applications, demand intake process for new applications, capability development roadmap and governance of cloud solutions.

Creates, refines and delivers Training and Overview presentations for Cargill s Cloud Strategy, Demand Intake/Guidance and Capacity planning for all levels of the organization including IT peers, all levels of IT management and all levels of Cargill s business partners and stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities

50% Architecture Strategy and Planning
*
Develops and maintains the mostcomplex enterprise architectures for Private and Public Cloud computing environments by leading definition of target or solution architecture, architecture reviews, and selection efforts. Examples include strategy for multiple technology stacks incorporating compute and storage infrastructure, database and application technologies and the supporting network technologies necessary to provide end to end service in both Public and Private Cloud environments (especially data center LAN, WAN, VPN and Carrier Neutral Facilities).
*
Core member of Cargill s Cloud Center of Excellence and key contributor to overall Cloud technology, strategy and governance.Also responsible for communicating current state, strategy and progress of Cargill s Cloud strategy to senior leadership.
*
Actively contributes tothe high-level architecture assets and long term architecture solution plans. Recommends plans to Platform/BU/Function leaders.
*
Independentlyaccountable for the development for the most complex architecture, functionality, economics, and architecture compliance of architecture options.
*
Provides leadership and assists managers in setting the long term direction, roadmaps, and standards for technical solutions, ensuring they align to the overall enterprise architecture.
*
Maintains extensive knowledge of industry trends, applying that knowledge by evaluating fit to Cargill and corresponding value.
*
Responsible for the Life Cycle Management of technology components as well as other IT assets to proactively plan their future state.
*
Utilize extensive architecture knowledge, may play a role in negotiations with strategy vendors and participate in strategic vendor relationship management process. Also ensure strategic vendor engagement to incorporate vendor s roadmaps to Cargill s target architecture and roadmaps.
*
Project portfolio management support ensure projects priorities are aligned to Cargill s future state architecture and roadmaps.
*
Proactively appraises and modifies current architecture to identify deficiencies, research alternatives, and determine improvements andEvaluatesindustry trends and vendor products. Reviews and presents recommendations based on the impact of to the architecture.
*
Appraises and modifiescurrent architecture (target/reference/solution) to identify deficiencies, research alternatives, and determine improvements. Reviews newly proposed solutions and processes, and determines which will create more value for the business.
*
Develops strategicrecommendations, including the associated pros and cons, for how to design solutions based on architecture strategy in order to meet the needs of Cargill's data and process design.
*
Drivesthe analysis and design of architecture solutions to align with business and IT strategies, value creation, and industry trends.
*
Accountable for solution evaluation and early-phase project estimates to contribute to the business case for the most complex architecture solutions as part of a large portfolio of architecture solutions.

20% Business Partnering / Relationship management and Consulting
*
Regularlyinterfaces and influences directly with senior Global Infrastructure leaders, other senior architects, project managers, and BU/Function subject matter experts to understand and evaluate near-term and future business requirements.
*
Creates and maintains executive Cloud scorecard and communicates status of Cloud maturity to all levels of senior and executive management.
*
Provides strategic direction in thedefinition of Cargill s architecture and technology opportunities based on new and emerging technologies; especially in the area of cloud computing and virtualization.
*
Independently establishes priorities and strategies, ensuring they are consistent with business goals and economic viability.
*
Applies a deep understanding and subject matter expertise of architecture practices and procedures to articulate technology options, risks and mitigation strategies to service owners and leadership.
*
Uses strategic expertise and advanced knowledge of architecture to benchmark with third party organizations to identify and incorporate best practices into Cargill s EA discipline and overall Cloud strategy.

15% Architecture Definition Methodology
*
Enterprise Architecture asset management - drive creation, certification, maintenance, guidance, access and communication of reusable models to guide architecture and design of solutions
*
Enterprise Architecture portfolio management management and optimization of the IT asset portfolios
*
Communication and Education of Enterprise Architecture methods and processes for all stakeholders, including training and ongoing coaching.
*
Independentlykeeps up-to-date on industry architecture frameworks, methodologies, tools and trends. Determines if/how these frameworks and methodologies can be applied to Cargill.
*
Creation and maintenance of assets in the EA repository. Ensure ready access to necessary documents in a timely and high quality fashion.
*
Reviews and guideschanges and improvements to architecture methods and services.
*
Participates inthe communication of architecture value, goals, etc. to senior leadership and other external audiences.

Consulting provide technology and solution architecture guidance to all relevant Cargill projects and Solution Architects.

15% Governance and Portfolio Management
*
Manage and review architecture solutions, ensuring they are aligned to Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards, quality and principles, as well as meet EA guidelines, common solutions and services are leveraged and that they meet financial targets (cost and benefits).
*
Lead Solution Architecture Reviews as the primary mechanism of architecture quality and compliance assurance.
*
Enterprise Architecture Exception Management to Manage exceptions to Enterprise Architecture standards and policies.
*
Provides strategic architecture governance and oversight while collaborating with other partner IT teams, internal and external to Cargill.
*
Provide Governance Support Overall Enterprise Architecture input to all relevant program / solution decisions.
*
Owns and provides guidanceon the development of new architecture services.

Required Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Management Information Systems; OR
equivalent experience.

Experience:
*
15 years business experience with diverse IT and/or business roles
*
5 years of experience with major business process design and improvement
*
Expertise in private and public cloud design considerations and limitations in the areas of virtualization and global infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing and networking, massive data storage and cloud infrastructure management and automation tools.
*
Exceptional knowledge of high availability infrastructure design, cloud solutions, data-center technology and private and public cloud industry trends.
*
Strong expertise defining and managing to Public and Private Cloud service levels and developing scorecards based on key performance indicators and Cloud specific service metrics.
*
Experience leading collaboration activities with IT teams to define business requirements and deliver solutions that meet business requirements to align with business goals.
*
Experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology and defining the associated financial models for end to end Cloud offerings.
*
Experience partnering with leading Cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.
*
Experience in translating technology problem statements into a cost effective, cloud based infrastructure solutions.
*
Experience with business case development specifically for cloud based solutions.
*
Business fluency in English.

Technical Skills:
*
Successfully designed and delivered secure cloud solutions for large/global organizations.

Expertise and proven skills in designing cloud deployment strategies that mitigate risk while meeting infrastructure, employee, customer and budgetary needs and service levels.

More than 5 years experience with the design, architecture and deployment of various Cloud models such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS technologies as well as managed service providers incorporating hybrid multi-mode deployment methods.
*
Deep expertise in assessing business requirements and designing technology patterns for IaaS, PaaS and other cloud models to align with predominant business technology and agility needs.
*
Experience in producing precise and consumable documentation for all levels of management.
*
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

5 years of business experience with one or more Cargill business units
*
Relevant experience with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or trading companies, including an understanding of relevant modules and industry extensions

SAP application knowledge in at least one major process area, with working knowledge of applications in multiple major process areas

Experience working on at least one full life cycle SAP implementation, preferably in a global organization
