Job Title Technical Manager – Service Delivery Platform

As the Technical Manager for ViaSat’s broadband technology you will manage and provide technical leadership to an integrated development and test automation team at our Chennai R&D Center. You will be responsible for product roadmaps, strategy, design and development, verification and deployment. You’ll collaborate with teams across global geographies to define and implement solutions, maintain and support CI/CD pipelines and report related metrics and also operate in a DevOps environment with shared responsibility for the live systems also. You will be responsible for Talent Acquisition/Management activities including hiring and managing resources, helping co-ordinate their work scope and building competency in the Chennai center.
Requirements
+ Hands-on experience with developing and deploying software in a service provider environment.
+ Technically broad, able to work with various systems/software folks, gather requirements, define scope.
+ Strong experience and knowledge of networking protocols – VLAN, IP Routing, TCP and UDP.
+ Familiarity with Linux development environment, open source software and virtualization.
+ Strong debugging and trouble-shooting skills.
+ Understanding of latest trends and innovation in test and automation techniques and methodologies.
+ Results oriented with a high degree of accountability, commitment and responsibility.
+ Must have strong collaboration, communication, hands-on problem-solving skills.
+ Experience in Agile/Scrum Methodologies.
+ BSEE/BSCS or similar technical degree.
+ 12+ years of design and development experience in wireless, networking and/or telecommunication industry.
+ 3+ years of leadership experience directing day-to-day activities as well as managing long term objectives – Talent Acquisition, Talent Management
+ Up to 25 percent travel
Preferences
+ Familiarity with broadband wireless technologies like WiMax is a plus
+ Knowledge of DevOps and exposure to running large scale development
+ Knowledge and experience in SDN/NFV is a plus
+ Familiarity with Continuous Delivery pipeline infrastructure tools such as Jenkins/Ant/Go and Artifactory
