Orion is the risk and profit/loss platform aggregation platform used across JP Morgan's Global Rates and Global Emerging Markets business, consolidating data from multiple trading systems. Traders and financial controllers use Orion to view, analyze and sign off their end of day official P&L and risk positions. As such, Orion delivers technology to support a critical part of the trading business.
In the past three years Orion has expanded its scope through a series of desk on-boarding and now covers the entirety of Rates businesses globally. The current focus is on performance and stability. In a broader context, Orion is part of a number of risk and P&L platforms within JP Morgan’s Macro business (spanning Rates, Emerging Markets, Currencies and Commodities) and is a core part of a multi-year convergence strategy).
The Orion application’s core components are:
Java based ETL
In-memory data store (Oracle Coherence)
C# WPF client
Proprietary report definitions written in XML and groovy
We are the application development team that supports Orion throughout the full software development lifecycle. We make changes to the core platform to enable scaling and support new features; make changes to the business configuration to on-board new trading desks and financial measures; deliver changes to production environments; and support end users: traders, controllers, middle office and other groups. Most of our team members are end-to-end developers with strong Java and C# skills, a good understanding of risk and P&L structure across Rates products and the ability to speak to our business users and understand their needs.
You will be:
* Design and implement scalable Oracle Coherence and/or Big Data Hadoop architecture solutions for Platform Feature Engineering Initiative
* Develop conceptual, logical and physical design for various data types and large volumes.
* Architect, design and implement high performance large volume data integration processes, database, storage, and other back-end
* Partnering with application development colleagues locally and globally
