**Job Description**

**PURPOSE**

The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for driving the analytics agenda in the Shell Lubricants Supply Chain to deliver new and actionable business insights from analytics that deliver true business value. He/she does this through a mix of team resources as well as managing projects run by other internal and external specialists.

The position represents a unique combination of delivering hands-on analytics insights and applications with managing a team, budget and projects and shaping the role that analytics represents in the organisation. We are therefore looking for an experienced data scientist who has had previous experience in managing teams and large complex projects.

**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

- Manage the supply chain analytics team to create, test, implement and exploit new actionable insights from analytics.

- Manage the supply chain analytics budget.

- Manage the supply chain analytics innovation funnel including ideation, concept development and prioritisation, concept testing with users and stakeholders and implementation.

- Oversee the management of agreed analytics projects, including overseeing the transition from proof of concept to scaling applications to production and eventually decommissioning them.

- Act as analytics representative of the Lubricant supply chain towards other internal and external stakeholders.

- Act as Analytics through leader in supply chain including staying on top of developments, techniques and software used elsewhere in and outside of Shell and assessing their use in and benefits for supply chain.

**Requirements**

**EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**

Prior experience in developing analytics applications and insights is a must. Evidence will be requested prior to shortlisting for interviews.

Experience in writing code in R, Python or SAS is a must. Equally, experience in using Spotfire, Qlikview or Tableau is a must.

Evidence will be requested prior to shortlisting for interviews.

Needs to demonstrate prior experience in engaging with business users of analytics applications to maximise the value delivered from analytics.

Skills in stakeholder management and project management.

Prior experience in managing direct reports, contractors and/or a budget is and advantage.
