Job Description
The selected individual will be working in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) in Bangalore, India.This is an engaging technical position which is a part of our operations and infrastructure support team. Currently we have multiple platforms running on Cisco UCS, Oracle Solaris, and HPUX hardware. We use VMware to support our Linux and Windows virtual services, and Veritas NetBackup for our backup services. We also leverage EMC for backend storage needs. We upgrade, consolidate, and leverage automation to improve and deploy services to all these platforms. This role will support a global community and needs to be focused on stability and reliability of services to customers at all sites.
Clarifies requirements and plans regular upgrades and patching of our Infrastructure. Verifies uptime on components that support virtualization and reports on capacity management.
* Understands regular change windows and upgrade schedules, ensures infrastructure services only change during these times.
* Provides infrastructure support to service developments and product lifecycle, and understands the current monitored thresholds.
* Assesses the feasibility of new infrastructure solutions and reviews alternatives when introducing automation.
* Performs analysis and evaluates current and legacy services for migration or upgrades. Assesses suitability of vendor products or solutions to determine requirements for capacity, improvements, or new enhancements.
* Drafts documents and service standards.
* Monitors the implementation of enterprise infrastructure and provides guidance and clarification to team members and resources.
* Troubleshoots basic access issues, operating system configurations, and software or middleware installations.
* Reports and troubleshoots service concerns based on assessment of monitoring tools. Warns of potential performance or growth reaching thresholds.
* Provides effective communication to the business and technical teams on behalf of our corporate infrastructure services.
* Provides concerns to Tier III support engineers in order to implement best practices and support enterprise infrastructure service standards.
* Provides support to development of internal competency and resources for critical skill sets for the Digital Aviation solutions team in Boeing India.
* Develops and maintains technical relationships / partnerships with customers, suppliers, peers, partners and team members to execute on projects.
* Provides periodic updates to Boeing management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents. This position will also be responsible for coordinating and communicating regularly with experts in Boeing organizations around the world.

Skill required
* This role should have strong Unix/Linux skills and be able to apply automated solutions to fit the needs of the business and infrastructure
* The ability to monitor SUN and HP blades, Chassis and supporting infrastructure
* The ability to monitor Cisco UCS blades, Chassis and supporting infrastructure
* Experience with scripting automation for use in these Operating Systems
* Experience with VMware 5.x and monitoring virtual server environments
* 5 years troubleshooting access and performance issues between systems and services within these operating systems
* The ability to support standard documentation, recommend improvements and make process changes to increase speed and quality of service
* Experience with managing accounts, print services, and watching all monitored devices for thresholds is required
* Experience with allocating space and managing file systems from our EMC is preferred
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
* Any relevant Industry Certifications is a plus
* Strong interpersonal and communications skills
* Collaborate effectively with other team members
Qualification
* Must have degree in Science, Technology, Mathematics, Information Technology, or Engineering with 5 years of IT industry experience and 3 years allocating and supporting file system growth across platforms with installing, configuring, and supporting Solaris, HPUX, or Linux Operating Systems
