The Challenge Ahead:

The Sr. Systems Engineer works as part of a team responsible for the design of the system architecture, server infrastructure management and advanced technical support. He/She also provides technical leadership required to effectively deliver high-quality, timely IT solutions and services that meet EA’s business needs.

What a Senior Linux Systems Engineer does at EA:

The Sr. System Engineer’s primary focus is server deployment in traditional data centers as well as virtualization and in the Cloud, but will also include research, evaluation, planning, designing, allocation, implementation and support of all aspects of EA’s Enterprise Applications and Private Cloud infrastructure to provide superior solutions for the Business.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Provides L3 (advanced) troubleshooting support; with accountability for resolution of outages, service level issues, and user support needs requiring collaboration. Servers hosted at EAIT Datacenters and Studios.

+ Partners with Dev teams, DBAs and QA in a DevOps model of agile development process.

+ Excellent capabilities around capacity planning and analysisMonitor and analyze metrics in order to implement optimization strategies

+ Ability to articulate end-to-end technical requirements across delivery functions

+ Expert knowledge of technology and deployment principles

+ Research and implement productivity enhancing tools for Systems Administration activities.Evaluate new technology and techniques in order to improve systems infrastructure

+ Drives and leads technical design services, requirements analysis, functional/ technical design leadership, and documentation/review with the business & IT.

+ Drives continuous improvement - design, definition of roadmaps, standardization of processes and methodologies

+ Must be able to conduct system analysis and translate user requirement into business solutions.

Experience:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience

+ 10+ years Systems Engineer experience with ‘mission critical’ systems in a medium to large environment.

+ At least 6 to 8 years Unix Systems Administration experience in a enterprise environment; preferably in RHEL and Centos.

+ As a plus - Experience managing Amazon AWS services

+ Experience working with internal and external organizations solving complex problems and handling large scale projects.

+ Extensive scripting experience in BASH or equivalent shell and or Perl, Python, Ruby.

+ Familiarity with Tier 1 vendor technologies (VMware, HP, Dell, Cisco).

+ Proven ability to drive systems optimizations on large scale infrastructure.

+ Experience with VMware, OpenStack, Azure or any multi-hypervisor management solution is highly desirable.

Senior Linux Systems Engineer additional desired skills:

+ Expert level knowledge of RHEL– RHCE Certification is a plus.

+ Expert level knowledge of AWS and related Amazon services.

+ Expertise in OS security fundamentals for external facing Linux servers.

+ Expertise in server automation technology (Chef preferably)

+ Excellent TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS and networking knowledge and experience.

+ Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in highly complex systems and drive performance optimizations.

+ Expertise with Apache, Tomcat, and Java environment.

+ Working knowledge of enterprise storage technologies (FC, NFS, ISCSI, CIFS).

+ Understanding of Oracle technology stacks, versions 11g and 12c and dNFS, Delphix, Informatica

+ Fusion Middleware, GRID / RAC / database deployment and administration

+ Oracle performance monitoring & troubleshooting using OEM and other toolsets

+ Virtualized Oracle provisioning on VMware vSphere / Amazon AWS / Oracle Cloud
