Position Purpose:
The Enterprise Architecture (EA) team s mission is to define, drive and maintain convergence toward Cargill s reference architectures by establishing enterprise architecture strategy and processes, managing risk, and initiating or leveraging investments across business process,applications, information, technology, and security (EA Domains) throughout Cargill.

As a member of this team, theCloud Domain Architectis responsible for providing subject matter expertise spanning several areas of Cargill s EA domains including the various technologies supporting Cloud computing and critical Business Application infrastructure and their supporting provisioning, standards and governance models. The Cloud Domain Architect will lead and support EA activities for these processes: Architecture Planning and Strategy, Architecture Development, roadmaps and Architecture Assurance. This is a critical role as the overall scope, magnitude, business impact, complexity and level of integration pertains to the support of IT infrastructure for the Cargill Enterprise around the globe. The Cloud Domain Architect is expected to lead and drive strategy in a multiple operating system and multi-vendor environment.

The incumbent will lead the differentiation of technical capabilities, working with Domain Teams and Providers for new and evolving services. The Cloud Domain Architect will identify and addresses inter-domain dependencies and interfaces and ensure that the underlying technologies align with the Global IT/EA standards and technology roadmaps and target architectures. They will also be responsible to monitor domain consistency and quality of the technical architecture across Cargill and Provider architecture.

Candidates for this position are expected to be experts and have experience and working knowledge of all areas of IT supporting Cargill s businesses and applications including networking, server (both physical and virtual), storage and database. Additionally, the Cloud Domain Architect should be comfortable in the business partnering space with extensive and deep knowledge to effectively communicate Architecture and Technology topics to our business partners. This job requires a highly skilled subject matter expert who can partner effectively with all levels of the organization, provide strategic thought leadership, lead and mentor others, drive results, and influence decision makers.

TheCloud Domain Architectis considered strategic expert in the architecture space with expert and advanced knowledge to independently conduct the most complex analysis and activities. Responsible for managing a large portfolio of architecture solutions, with a long term outlook. This includes: architecture strategy and planning, business partnering, relationship management and consulting, governance and portfolio management, architecture definition methodology, and people and budget management.

The Cloud Domain Architect gains valuable experience by understanding Cargill business and enterprise process strategy at a high level, working in ambiguity, developing networks across the organization, and contributing thought leadership, strategic recommendations and action to help solve challenging problems for the platform.

The responsibilities of this position will include working with and partnering with teams predominantly located in North American and primarily in the US Central Timezone of Cargill s corporate headquarters (Hopkins, MN).

Priority Goals (in order of priority) The Cloud Domain Architect:

Is a Core member of the Cloud Domain Governance Triangle , a partnership between the three technology towers (Enterprise Architecture and Risk, Global IT Infrastructure and TCS) responsible for maintaining alignment between the Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and Operations Domains while providing technology and investment guidance and governance to our evolving IT value chain and our Enterprise end state goals.

Engages directly with Business Unit IT partners, Business Relationship Managers and Service Advisors as the primary point of contact in ETA for projects considering Cloud solutions and owns the Cloud Domain s service pipeline and demand forecast process.

*
Responsible for assessing new IT needs of our businesses as a Cloud Service Broker and determining which service offering (Cloud or other solution) would best address the requirements and cost/risk profile. Also, as required, the Cloud Domain Architect will drive the evaluation, development and vetting of new or enhanced cloud technology patterns and services in collaboration with the appropriate Domain service delivery teams.

Collaborates with Cargill s Cloud Hosting Partners and Managed Service Providers on Cargill s Cloud technology pattern refinement and the definition and management of any tactical solutions (i.e. Occam, RackSpace, SecondWatch, AWS, Microsoft/Azure, etc.)

Creates, refines and maintains Cargill s Cloud related documentation as part of the Cloud CoE Core Team (documents include Cloud Decision Framework, Cloud Playbook, Cloud Technology Pattern definitions as needs evolve, Cloud Service Descriptions and Frequently Asked Questions among others)

Responds to and process architecture exception requests from business partners for technologies or deployment methods not currently aligned with target or reference architectures.

Creates, refines and delivers Training and Overview presentations for Cargill s Cloud service offerings and engagement model(s) for all levels of the organization including IT peers, all levels of IT management and all levels of Cargill s business partners and stakeholders.
Principal Accountabilities:
30% Architecture Strategy and Planning
*
Supports the development of the mostcomplex enterprise architectures for Private and Public Cloud computing environments by leading definition of target or solution architecture, architecture reviews, and selection efforts. Examples include defining and architecting multiple Cloud technology patterns that incorporate compute and storage infrastructure, database and application technologies and supporting network technologies (especially data center LAN, WAN, VPN and Carrier Neutral Facilities).

Responsible for the Life Cycle Management of technology components as well as other IT assets to proactively plan their future state and help drive lifecycle activities with the TLM teams.

Utilizes extensive architecture knowledge to assist in negotiations with strategy vendors and participate in strategic vendor relationship management process.

Project portfolio management support ensure projects priorities are aligned to Cargill s future state architecture and roadmaps.

Proactively appraises and modifies current architecture to identify deficiencies, research alternatives, and determine improvements andEvaluatesindustry trends and vendor products. Reviews and presents recommendations based on the impact of to the architecture.

Appraises and modifiescurrent architecture (target/reference/solution) to identify deficiencies, research alternatives, and determine improvements. Reviews newly proposed technical solutions and processes, and determines which will create more value for the business.

Develops technicalrecommendations for cloud based solutions including the associated pros and cons, for how to design solutions based on architecture strategy in order to meet the needs of Cargill's data and process design.

Drivesthe analysis and design of architecture solutions to align with business and IT strategies, value creation, and industry trends.

Accountable for solution evaluation and early-phase project estimates to contribute to the business case for the most complex architecture solutions as part of a large portfolio of architecture solutions.

Regularlyinterfaces and influences directly with senior Global Infrastructure leaders, other senior architects, project managers, and BU/Function subject matter experts to understand and evaluate near-term and future business requirements.

Provides technical expertise and direction in thedefinition of Cargill s architecture and technology opportunities based on new and emerging technologies; especially in the area of cloud computing and virtualization.

Manage and review architecture solutions, ensuring they are aligned to Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards, quality and principles, as well as meet EA guidelines, common solutions and services are leveraged and that they meet financial targets (cost and benefits).

Lead Solution Architecture Reviews as the primary mechanism of architecture quality and compliance assurance.

Enterprise Architecture Exception Management to Manage exceptions to Enterprise Architecture standards and policies.

Required Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Management Information Systems; OR
equivalent experience.

Experience:
*
15 years business experience with diverse IT and/or business roles
*
5 years of experience with major business process design and improvement
*
Expertise in private and public cloud design considerations and limitations in the areas of virtualization and global infrastructure, distributed systems, load balancing and networking, massive data storage, and cloud infrastructure management and automation tools.
*
Experience and proven expertise in partnering with business leaders to define technology requirements and develop and implement cloud technology patterns to meet these needs.
*
Experience in translating technology problem statements into a cost effective, cloud based infrastructure solutions.
*
Experience leading collaboration activities with IT teams to define business requirements and deliver solutions that meet business goals
*
Experience partnering with leading Cloud hosting partners such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft.

Experience in developing integrated solutions involving process, data, and technology

Technical Skills:

More than 5 years experience with the design, architecture and deployment of various Cloud models such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS technologies as well as managed service providers.

Experience in producing precise and consumable documentation for all levels of management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:

5 years of business experience with one or more Cargill business units
*
Relevant experience with Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or trading companies, including an understanding of relevant modules and industry extensions

Exceptional knowledge of high availability software design, cloud solutions, data-center technology and private and public cloud industry trends.

SAP application knowledge in at least one major process area, with working knowledge of applications in multiple major process areas
