In celebration of Xavier’s 60th year, Xavier School hosted a friendly basketball tournament that involved various Chinese schools across Metro Manila. It began last August 27 and ended on September 11. The aim of the tournament was to celebrate Xavier School’s diamond jubilee while promoting a healthy relationship among the different Chinese schools in the form of basketball. The competing schools in the tournament included Chiang Kai Shek College (CKSC), Grace Christian College (GCC), St. Jude Catholic School (SJCS), St. Stephen High School

(SSHS), Hope Christian High School (HCHS), and the host, Xavier School (XS).

The opening ceremony last August 27 marked the launching of this friendly event. For Xavier School, this event is not just a celebration of 60 years of showcasing homegrown talents and successful athletes; it is also a means of promoting sportsmanship and showing appreciation to our brother and sister Chinese schools for 60 years of fellowship and camaraderie.

The first day of the friendly tournament also began last August 27. Filled with excitement and thrill as Xavier School battled it out with Grace Christian College, the game started very intensely, with the two schools exchanging quick buckets early on. As the first half ended, it seemed as if the game would be very close down the stretch. The game had a breakthrough during the 3rd quarter as Xavier once again showed its passion, grit, and determination in both offense and defense. The friendly game ended with a resounding win for Xavier as the Golden Stallions won by a staggering 20 points. The atmosphere throughout the first day was truly felt as the crowd cheered on their respective schools.

Games were held every Saturday and Sunday and continued until September 11. Xavier School thanks everyone who participated and supported this event. Luceat lux!
