A remapped keyboard makes it more difficult to type when I could more easily keep my hand where it is to hit the buttons that I've programmed to do whatever I need them to do. Having my f-keys mapped to my mouse, for example, allows me to use my abilities unfettered. I also have various AHK scripts programmed into my mouse for DG/skilling (the skilling AHKs go unused, as you can imagine), as well as a macro that allows me to switch between abilities bars with one click of my mouse rather than having to hit two keys with my left hand.

Being able to do something comfortably does not mean that it is the best or most efficient way to do it. Again, this seems to be a matter of imagination and the lack thereof. If you're unable to consider the applications of having to move your hands and fingers less (as opposed to more), then all I can do is offer you suggestions. One does not need a gaming mouse to play Runescape, but one can make their Runescape experience a little nicer and more comfortable by using one.

And as Dylan said, this thread is not the place to grandstand about the supposed faults of using gaming peripherals. If you would like to construct an argument against the use of gaming peripherals in Runescape, then feel free to do so in a new thread in the General Discussion board. However, keep in mind that gaming peripherals are most applicable to games like Runescape that have ability bars and hot-keys, so you would be hard-pressed to make such an argument without appearing to be, um, uninformed (to put it nicely).

I wasn't saying that doing something comfortably meant it was the most efficient way. I was saying I was able to achieve very high experience rates without the need of a gaming mouse, essentially making it not needed for me and so considering that, the best thing would be the comfort.

Regarding moving my fingers less. I rarely ever typed, and I pretty much always had one hand on my mouse and the other on mousekeys, so they basically never moved anyway.

As Thai has said built in macros are against Runescape rules (or at least they used to be I don't know anymore as I don't play). Also, I will have to concede on your point about the ability bar. As I haven't played RS in a while I don't really know anything about that bar or the evolution of combat in general really. So with my ignorance on this aspect I suppose I cant comment.

I don't suppose it matters that much, people should just use whatever mouse they want. But the vertical mouse was the choice of mouse for myself, Zarfot and one or two other select few elite efficiency players, so clearly it was good in this field of play.
