20 September 2016, Amsterdam – TAUS is proud to announce a DQF plugin has been made available for XTM Cloud. The new DQF plugin supports both productivity tracking and quality review based on the harmonized MQM-DQF error typology. These new plugins are built on the latest DQF API release 3.0 which comes with a user management component that allows translators, project managers at translation service providers and customers or translation buyers to each have their own views and reports on the TAUS Quality Dashboard. TAUS also launched a set of new subscriptions plans to ensure DQF and the TAUS Quality Dashboard are accessible for all stakeholders in the translation industry.
“With the increasing customer emphasis on translation quality and efficiency, we are delighted to be able to offer our users a seamless integration of XTM with TAUS DQF,” says Bob Willans, CEO of XTM International. “With an extremely simple set up in XTM, the relevant data is sent from XTM to the TAUS Quality Dashboard. The results are displayed in an attractive graphical form, allowing all users to monitor the key metrics of their work, helping them to meet customer expectations”.
The DQF API is available under an open source license. Support is offered to developers through a GitHub site. Users of DQF can join user groups to discuss best practices and help review the scope of new releases of DQF. A DQF Enterprise User Group has been formed that is working together to define the requirements of further harmonization and benchmarking models for translation quality evaluation.
“DQF and the TAUS Quality Dashboard fill an urgent need,” says Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS. “Quality evaluation in the translation industry is problematic. It is costly, time-consuming and often unreliable. DQF hosts common metrics and evaluation methods. This increases the credibility of translation services, reduces the cost of quality evaluation and eliminates a source of friction between translators, translation vendors, and their customers.”
A DQF plugin is also already available for SDL products. In the next couple of months, DQF plugins will become available for other commercial and internal translation tools.
