Sr. Desktop Engineer

Environment:

Support large multinational client operating 4000 remote locations and over 100,000 endpoint devices.

Job Description:

The Sr. Desktop Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, integration and implementation, operation, and support of enterprise-wide desktop services. The Sr. Desktop Engineer will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for desktop imaging solutions. The Engineer must have extensive experience with Microsoft Operating Systems (XP Embedded, W7, W7 Embedded, W8) and COTS products along with a solid working knowledge of desktop computing environments. The engineer will develop new desktop imaging solutions and provide expertise in implementing automated solutions for all aspects of imaging and customization. The Engineer will build and maintain based on the ITIL framework.

Education/Certifications/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related subject or professional certifications that demonstrate advanced desktop management knowledge is a plus.
• MCITP / MCP / MCTS a plus
• ITIL v3 Foundations certified
• Minimum seven years of demonstrable experience in desktop engineering, architecture and IT support, with technical proficiency in operating systems and desktop image management.

Required Skills:

• Strong and demonstrated enterprise experience in desktop troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, migration planning, design and implementation.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with various COTS products.
• Strong demonstrated experience with Active Directory and laptop/desktop/printer hardware architecture.
• Strong demonstrated experience in end-user device technologies, security tools, desktop deployment and utilities related to desktop service.
• Experience in collaboration technologies including products such as SharePoint and Instant Messaging, etc.
• Evaluate, work with vendors and new technology, and test and create custom software distribution packages using PowerShell, MSI\MST technologies, InstallShield, AutoIT, Active Directory Group Policies and triggered scripts (login, logoff, etc.)
• Ability to represent EUC Engineering team on projects.
• Proven expertise at the enterprise level in the management, design, development and deployment of integrated desktop solutions including overall architecture for AD synchronization and policy management services
• Matches IT product offerings with the business needs and develop solutions to complex customer requirements
• Evaluate future state and leading edge technologies and provide detailed recommendations on adoption of these technologies.
• Responsible for engineering complex integrated services for the desktop, as well as integrated end-user systems that operate with other networked services
• Leads evaluation of new product features or upgrades.
