Purpose:
* Responsible for the efficient running and administration of the organization’s payroll and expense accounts. Includes implementing and checking payroll and taxation changes on an on-going basis.
* May provide input, or directly participate in the strategy development for the team. Directs and manages the daily operations of the payroll function and/or the federal multi-state and local payroll tax function.
Scope:
General:
* Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
* Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices
* Decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives
* Primarily domestic accountability; may include some international accountability
Primary Responsibilities:
* Leads the development of policies and procedures for the payroll process and timekeeping.
* Oversees the maintenance of earnings and deductions records.
* Has overall accountability for the generation of the company payroll, including vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status.
* Enables organization to meet all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contributions.
* Directs the preparation and filing of required reports and/or payments to government agencies, employees and other organizations.
* Serves as a subject matter liaison with other departments in the resolution of payroll issues.
* Leads changes in methods and procedures to improve the efficiency of the payroll function.
* All other duties as assigned.
Candidate Education:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Master's Degree in financial discipline or MBA
Candidate Background:
Minimum Demonstrated successful performance in key finance roles
Minimum Comprehensive knowledge of tax and accounting policy, practices and procedures.
Minimum Exceptional analytical ability
Minimum Demonstrates financial awareness, with a high degree of numeracy and interest in finance.
Minimum Able to demonstrate effective and successful contributions to team and/or cross-functional team objectives
Minimum Experienced in managing people and leading teams/virtual teams
Minimum Leadership skills to coach, train and mentor workgroup employees
Minimum Sound judgment and decision making skills
Minimum Demonstrates a proactive approach to work with initiative and drive
Minimum Ability to influence, negotiate and gain commitment at all organizational levels
Minimum Experience in project management, process improvement and strategy development
