Death, War and Dismemberment have never been so exciting. Death Cab For Cutie, The War On Drugs and The Dismemberment Plan will all be performing at this year’s Hideout Block Party/Onion & A.V. Fest taking place on Friday September 5 and Saturday September 6.

Two of Chicago’s most beloved cultural institutions, the A.V. Club and Hideout, are putting on the fest, just outside of the Hideout at 1354 W. Wabansia St.

While Chicago is home to other big name music festivals such as Lollapalooza and Pitchfork, The Hideout Block Party/Onion & A.V. Fest stands out as a long-running, family-friendly festival with A-list lineups. It’s a low-stress environment with food and drink available, a kids area and a bike valet.

Wendella has also made a deal with the festival this year, offering rides from Union Station to the fest for $4.

Two-day passes and single-day tickets are available now via Ticketfly. A portion of every ticket will benefit a variety of Chicago charities, such as Foundations Of Music (formerly Rock For Kids).

Friday’s lineup consists of legendary Seattle indie-rock band, Death Cab For Cutie; recently new solo artist breaking from The Walkmen, Hamilton Leithauser; husband-wife duo who is responsible for the theme song to True Detective, The Handsome Family; and Bad Luck Jonathan (feat. Jon Langford).

If you’re a big Death Cab For Cutie fan, make sure to attend, as this is Chris Walla’s LAST show in the U.S. with the band.

Saturday’s performers consist of Block Party/A.V. Fest veterans, The War On Drugs; The Dismemberment Plan, who has recently come out with more music; and 2013 Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame nominees, funky METERS.

Additionally, Canadian rocker Mac DeMarco; electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso; Valerie June, a Tennessean who mixes folk, blues and gospel sounds; local Chicago band, Empires, and Plastic Crimewave Vision Celestial Guitarkestra will be performing on Saturday.
