The Steamboat Springs City Council and the Steamboat Springs School Board will meet Monday night to discuss the potential impact of a downtown urban renewal authority plan on the school district.
The city council is considering using tax increment financing in a downtown urban renewal area to fund infrastructure improvements that include sidewalks, public restrooms and pedestrian lighting.
City staff presented the urban renewal plan to the school board in August.
The school board has opposed the plan, saying it would make the school district more reliant on the state for funding, among other criticisms.
City officials said the school district and other taxing entities stand to benefit from the urban renewal plan.
The URA discussion is the first item on the school board’s agenda.
The workshop starts at 5:30 p.m. in Citizens Hall, 124 10th St.
Road to close Monday due to work on railroad tracks
Routt County Road 35 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Colorado Highway 131 and C.R. 35. Union Pacific will be working on the railroad tracks.
Website forum for small business owners planned
Colorado Mountain College and Yampa Valley SCORE will be hosting a forum to help local small business owners understand evolving trends in website design, management and optimization from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Eagles Nest Room on the third floor of CMC’s Academic Center in Steamboat Springs.
The workshop will help businesses ensure their websites are a productive tool for business development and customer service and help new businesses create a web strategy that works. Themes presented will include: creating a site map; mobile friendly sites; e-commerce issues; search engine strategies; coding and content that support visitor interest and site productivity; and a discussion on measuring site results through analytics.
Community web specialists, Dave Wittlinger with digital media sales for Explore Steamboat Digital Services, Brian Berry, owner of JDB Technology, and Casey Barnett, project manager for 305 Spin LLC, will lead the forum.

New support group formed for those with brain injuries
A new brain injury support group has formed, and the group will meet the second Friday of the month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Hayden Public Library, 201 E. Jefferson Ave.
The group is for individuals living with brain injuries, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder.
The support group will:
■ Engage in a community conversation about brain injuries, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy and strokes
■ Discuss housing, transportation, home community-based attendant services, employment and social/recreational opportunities
■ Discuss logistics for ongoing effort to identify brain injury goals and provide mutual support
■ Share information about services available and discuss working together to leverage capacity through collaboration
■ Discuss agencies and people that provide services
