Integrated Health offers a “Side Effects of Chemotherapy” support group meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

Attend the Q-and-A session with Kristi Tullis and Terri Chapman as they provide information on managing side effects of chemotherapy treatment.

The event is free and will be held at 3001 S. Lincoln Ave., Suite A.

Natural Grocers hosts nutrition seminar

A nutrition seminar and cooking demo will be available for all those who are interested at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Natural Grocers, 335 Lincoln Ave.

The seminar is titled “The Primal Smoothie — Health and Delicious Nutrition On the Go.” Participants can learn how to increase the nutrient density of their diet every day with supercharged smoothies.

The seminar is presented by Alicia McLeod, a nutritional health coach, and is free and open to all.

Kiwanis Club to host YVMC CEO Frank May as speaker

Later this year, the Yampa Valley Medical Center will celebrate 100 years of health care in the Yampa Valley. From the first health care facility started by Doc Willett to the Steamboat Springs Hospital Association, from Routt County Memorial Hospital to YVMC, the region has seen growth not only in facilities but the number of services offered.

The Kiwanis Club will host Frank May, CEO of YVMC, as its featured speaker during its regular meeting at the Steamboat Springs Community Center on Tuesday. Join the club and learn more about the accomplishments and future direction of our local medical center. VNA offers free blood pressure checks for National Heart Month

In honor of National Heart Month, the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association will offer free blood pressure checks and free body mass index calculations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at 940 Central Park Drive, Suite 101 in Steamboat Springs.

Adult activity and care program offered in Hayden

An adult activity and care program will be offered at the Haven Assisted Living Center, 300 S. Shelton Lane in Hayden.

The program provides a place for older adults to enjoy a fun and relaxing day outside the home. Activities include music, presentations, exercise, art, social events and health and wellness services.

The program will be available the following Tuesdays: March 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $50 per day.

Free van transportation will be provided from Craig to Hayden. Pickup will be at 8:30 a.m., and dropoff is at 3:30 p.m. at the parking lot at the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association office in Craig, 745 Russell St.

McCarthy offers 6-week workshop starting March 5

Marchele McCarthy is offering a six-week workshop called “Finding Freedom from Old Habits and Negative Emotions,” starting March 5 and continuing Wednesday evenings through April 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The workshop will focus on meditation, relaxation, and other mindfulness techniques to work with difficult emotions and habitual patterns.

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is hosting a series of free information sessions to answer questions about the new health insurance marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado. The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association’s Community Health Center is offering low-cost birth control, STD screenings (for men and women), pap smears, breast exams and general women’s health care based on income. LiveWell program to help families with healthy eating

LiveWell Northwest Colorado is helping families be healthy by working to improve eating habits and to be more physically active through the “Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0” program. The program sets the goal each day of eating five or more fruits and vegetables, watching two or fewer hours of TV, getting an hour or more of physical activity and drinking zero sugary drinks. Winter Blast Triathlon Series continues Friday

The Winter Blast Triathlon Series at the Old Town Hot Springs continues Friday and March 28. The triathlon starts in the pool, heads up to the spin bikes and then to the treadmills. The cost for members is $30 per event and $80 for the series, and the cost for nonmembers is $40 per event or $110 for the series. Participants ages 12 to 15 must be with an adult. Northwest Colorado VNA offers options to help quit tobacco

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association offers options for those looking to quite smoking. The VNA has counseling available to help tobacco users of all ages to quit using cigarettes or smokeless tobacco. Quitting tobacco usually takes multiple attempts, but studies show cessation support can significantly improve a person’s chance for success. Counseling helps tobacco users set quit goals in a judgment-free environment. Participants also may receive support for weight management, nutrition, heart health and stress control. HPV vaccine offered through VNA

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. Protect yourself or your family from cancers caused by HPV for just $21.50 for uninsured and underinsured individuals. The HPV vaccine is for ages 9 to 26 for males and females.
