Radnor earned second place in the Women’s Varsity 4+ at the Philadelphia City Championships May 3 with a crew of Caroline Ressler, Annabelle Chardonnet, Gisella Logioia, Kelsey Lally and Skylar Kallick.

The Conestoga High School duo of Steven Yang and Max Howarth defeated Harriton’s Jeff Solomon and Griffin Kivitz in the championship finals of the Central League Doubles Tournament, 6-3, 6-3 May 2.

In the semifinals, Jeff Solomon and Griffin Kivitz defeated Conestoga’s Alex Moon and Quinn Olsen, 6-3, 7-5; while Steven Yang and Max Howarth defeated Radnor’s Will Frigerio & Josh Taylor, 6-7, 7-5, 6-1.

In the third-place match, Will Frigerio and Josh Taylor defeated Alex Moon and Quinn Olsen, 6-3, 6-4.

In the fifth-place match, Lower Merion’s Lucas Kreuzer and Nick Legg defeated Harriton’s Esteban Bermudez and Alex Douglass, 6-7, 6-1, 7-5.

In the consolation semifinals, Lucas Kreuzer and Nick Legg defeated Garnet Valley’s Jacob Apple and Jared Verratti, 6-4, 6-1; while Esteban Bermudez and Alex Douglass defeated Strath Haven’s Ethan Gaieski and Clay Gaieski, 6-2, 6-1.

Boys’ lacrosse

Episcopal Academy defeated LaSalle, 8-7, May 2. The Churchmen were led by Connor Ringwalt (two goals, one assist), Eric Haab (two goals), Curtis Zappala (two goals, two assists), Chris Friedman (two goals, one assist), Jake MArtellucci (two assists), Cole Johnson (one assist), Christian Feliziani (won 13 of 19 faceoffs) and Colin Reder (eight saves).

Harriton defeated Strath Haven, 8-7, April 30. The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter, but Harriton came back with four straight goals, three of which were scored by senior midfielder Pat Bernicker. Early in the third quarter, Pat Stewart found the goal for the second time in the game, and Pat Bernicker added his fourth goal of the game to finish the third quarter Harriton ahead 7-5. Strath Haven’s offense worked hard in the third quarter, putting five shots on goal, all turned away by senior goalie Victor Fink. Strath Haven pulled within one goal halfway through the fourth quarter, but Harriton’s Matt Binnion was able to score after forcing a turnover in the defensive end of the field, and the clock ran out with Harriton winning 8-7; keeping their playoff hopes alive as they rolled into the final three games of the season.

Haverford School improved its record to 20-0 with an 18-9 win against St. Joseph’s Prep May 2.

Haverford scoring was led by Drew Supinski (four goals), Grant Ament (three goals, six assists), Forry Smith (three goals), Dox Aitken (one goal), Brendan Jacob (one goal), Keyveat Postel (one assist), Phil Poquie (one goal), Lane Odom (one assist), Shane McBride (three assists), Corey Richards (two goals), Chris Maguire (one goal), Johnny Nostrant (one goal) and Jake Hervada (one goal). Goalies were Alex DeMarco (five saves), Parker Henderer (one save), Logan Atkins (one save) and Seamus Glavin (one save).

The Fords defeated LaSalle, 12-6, April 29. Malvern Prep defeated West Chester East, 13-4, May 2. The Friars were led by Jordan Donaghy (one goal, four assists), Adam Goldner (one goal, two assists), Zach White (one goal, one assist), AJ Traynor (one goal), Drew Schantz (one goal, one assist), Jack Traynor (one goal), Addison Mueller (one goal), Luke Hoffman (two goals), Quinn McCahon (one goal), Matt Boles (one goal), Josh Silvestri (one goal), Scottie White (one assist), Mike Fay (one assist), Charles Kelly (won three of four faceoffs), Pat Finley (won five of five faceoffs), Sean Christman (won 10 of 11 faceoffs), Sam Stroud (eight saves) and Andrew Clark (three saves).

Radnor defeated Marple Newtown, 12-7, April 30 behind a five-goal performance from Jack Norton. Other contributors for the Red Raiders were Clayton Proctor (two goals, one assist), Drew Ryan (one goal, two assists), Jack Wilson (one goal), Dario Falcone (one goal), Tom Meyers (won 13 of 17 faceoffs, scored one goal), Hal Marshall (one assist), Alex Andersen (one assist), Phil Regan (one assist), Rod Castro (one assist) and Alex Andersen (seven saves).

Shipley improved to 14-3 with a 15-4 win against Perkiomen May 2. The Gators were led by Tate Gallagher (four goals, two assists), Pete Moeller (three goals), Chad Allison (two goals, one assist), Frank Campanle (two goals), David Wolfson (one goal), Amir Fluellen (one goal), Ethan Bradlow (one goal) and Chris Verdeur (one goal). In the first half, goalie Ian Walsh had one save and gave up no goals; in the second half, goalie Colton Gallo had six saves and gave up four goals.

The day before, the Gators defeated Westtown, 20-5. Tate Gallagher broke his 100 point season mark, Amir Fluellen broke his 100 career goal mark, and Chris Verdeur broke his 100 career ground ball mark. Goalie Ian Walsh played the first half and had six saves. Colton Gallo finished up the game and had nine saves. Tate Gallagher scored six times and had four assists. Both Amir Fluellen and Pete Moeller had four goals and two assists. Chad Allison had two goals and one assist. Both Frank Campanale and Chris Verdeur had one goal and one save. Ethan Bradlow and Nick Ragaglia had one goal and Nick Gonzalez had one assist.

Girls’ lacrosse

Academy of Notre Dame defeated Germantown Friends, 10-7, April 29. Leaders for the Irish included Caroline Allen (four goals, three assists, five ground balls, three caused turnovers, three draw controls), Mackenzie Irvine (four goals, one ground ball, one draw control), Madison Chermol (two assists, one caused turnover), Kelly Coyle (one goal, one caused turnover), Natalie Hughes (one goal), Carolyn Riegel (one assist, one ground ball, two caused turnovers, one draw control), Caroline McHugh (one caused turnover, two ground balls, one draw control), Kaitlyn May (two ground balls, one caused turnover), Meredith Hughes (three ground balls, one caused turnover), Katie OConnor (three ground balls) and goalie Kat Land (12 saves).

Agnes Irwin’s Hannah Keating fired seven goals and Olivia Carey chipped in a career-high four goals and one assist to lead the Owls (16-1, 8-1) over visiting Springside Chestnut Hill 16-11 in an Inter Ac match up Monday. Laura Pansini recorded four points on three goals and an assist and Kate White added a goal, five draw controls, and two ground balls for the Owls. Goalie Hailey Andress stopped seven shots and picked up two ground balls to earn her 16th win.

Agnes Irwin avenged an early season overtime loss to rival Episcopal Academy, defeating the Churchmen 8-7 in an Inter Ac match up May 1. Hannah Keating scored four goals to led the Owls.

AIS led wire-to-wire by as many as four goals, but with less than 1:30 on the clock and Irwins holding a one goal lead, junior captain Laura Pansini caused a turnover in the midfield and picked up a ground ball to give the Owls possession. Agnes Irwin ran out the clock to seal the victory.

Sarah Platt, Kate White, Kate Chernitsky, Alicia O’Neil and Maria Pansini led the AIS defense, which combined to cause six turnovers. Maria Pansini also chipped in a goal and an assist on the offensive end, and White added her third goal of the season. Goalie Hailey Andress was outstanding, stopping seven shots.

Baldwin School lost to Lawrenceville, 11-7, April 29. The Bears were led by Ali Thaler (three goals, five draw controls), Ive Gonzalez (one goal, one assist, four ground balls, two caused turnovers), Marissa McGarrey (two goals, three draw controls), Myla Barnett (one goal, five ground balls, three caused turnovers, one draw controls), Eliza Thaler (two ground balls, one caused turnover, two draw controls), Carrie Schaeffer (three ground balls, three caused turnovers), Abby Andrews (two ground balls) and Shayna Silverman (five saves).

Friends’ Central went 3-0 in five days against Friends Schools League opponents, and finished regular season league play with a 7-0 record.

FCS handed Westtown a 15-2 loss May 1. Abby Crowley and Miranda Mastrocola scored three goals each, and Jesse Rubin, Sohpie Macfarlane and Emily Lorry chipped in two goals each. Single goals were scored by Sophie Berger, Lily Snider and Avital Schweitzer who also pulled in five draw controls. Elise Foster had two saves in goal.

Two days earlier, FCS beat Abington Friends School 14-2. Nine different players scored with Emily Tedesco’s four goals leading the way. Sophie Berger, Jesse Rubin and Miranda Mastrocola scored two goals each, and Hayden Posencheg, Lily Snider, Sofia Acchione and Hope Durlofsky each added a goal. Hannah Posencheg had five caused turnovers and five ground balls in a strong defensive effort.

FCS topped Academy of the New Church 14-2 April 27. Jesse Rubin lead all scoring with five goals and three assists and pulled in eight draws. Also scoring for FCS was Abby Crowley (three goals), Lorna Macfarlane (two goals, one assist), and single goals by Emily Tedesco, Sophie Berger, Miranda Mastrocola, Avital Schweitzer and Lily Snider.

Harriton rolled to an 8-1 lead en route to a 16-6 victory over host Strath Haven April 30. Leaders for Harriton included Jane Henderson (six goals, three assists, one draw control, three ground balls, two caused turnovers), Laura Lasprogata (two goals, one assist, five draw controls), Alex Ladda (two goals, one assist, eight draw controls, two ground balls), Greta Stahl (two goals, one assist, three ground balls), Claudia Conrad (two goals), Maura Henderson (one goal, two ground balls, four caused turnovers), Julia Marks (one goal, one assist), Haley Morris (two draw controls, two ground balls) and Devin McClain (five saves ).

Merion Mercy Academy defeated Villa Joe, 24-11, April 30. The Golden Bears were led by Caroline Corzel (seven goals, three assists), Allie Scannopieco (four goals, one assist), Jackie Benedict (three goals, two assists), Amelia Piccone (one goal), Kaely Kyle (one goal, one assist), Julia Swahl (one goal, one assist), Brenna Stone (one assist), Caroline Steller (five goals, four assists), Brittany Bedrossian (two goals) and Lauren Thomas (six saves).

The day before, the Golden Bears defeated Sacred Heart, 20-2, led by Caroline Corzel (three goals, one assist), Allie Scannopieco (one goal), Jackie Benedict (five goals, one assist), Caroline Heath (one goal), Kaely Kyle (one goal), Julia Swahl (four goals, three assists), Brenna Stone (two goals), Caroline Steller (one goal, two assists), Brittany Bedrossian (two goals, one assists), Shannon Rogers (one assist), Ciara Beauwens (one assist), Mary Kate Markey (two saves) and Lauren Thomas (two saves). For the Lions, Jenna Palumbo and Hannah Seifried each scored a goal. Sacred Heart goalie Katie Honebrink recorded 14 saves.

Shipley (6-9 overall, 4-3 FSL) beat Perkiomen School, 18-4, on Senior Day May 2. Shipley honored seniors Demi Karalis, Alli Kothari, Anna Scutt, Rachel Shapiro, Madison Tucker, and manager Pinky Rowe.

Scoring for the Gators were Tucker (three goals, three assists), Karalis and Shapiro (one goal, two assists), and Scutt (one goal) as well as juniors Jenna Litner (five goals, two assists), Christina Piasecki (one goal, one assist), sophomore Soph Piasecki (one goal) and freshman Ashleigh Gundy (five goals, one assist). Freshman goalie Brittany Wells had five saves in the victory.

Villa Maria Academy defeated Nazareth, 20-5, April 30. For the Hurricanes (10-3, 9-2), leaders included Alexa Ostoich (two goals), Jenna Brignola (two goals, two assists), Erin Alessandroni (two goals), Lauren Dunn (four goals, three assists), Bryn Carickhoff (two goals), Caroline Mackrides (three goals, three assists, nine draw controls), Katie Manta (one goal, one assist, four ground balls), Abbey Chick (one assist), Audrey Fantazzia (two goals, two assists), Annina Iacobucci (one goal, two assists) and Lucy Meehan (one goal, one assist). VMA goalies Emily Wilson, Lauren Magnotta and Caitlin Mulqueen combined for six saves.

Baseball

Friends’ Central lost to host Moorestown Friends, 3-2, May 2. FCS’ Connor McVail pitched 8 2/3 innings of excellent baseball and also had two hits and knocked in both Friends’ Central’s runs. Moorestown scored an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off win.

Four days earlier, Friends’ Central defeated Academy of New Church, 21-0. Gil Dreyfuss and Mike Norcini combined for a one hitter, and the Phoenix pounded out 14 hits over four innings including doubles by Robert Geddis-Hannon, Mike Norcini and two by Jonas Snyder.

Harriton improved its Central League record to 7-6 with an 8-1 win over Radnor Monday led by the complete game pitching effort by Tristan Kevitch, who allowed only one run on four hits, with six strikeouts and no walks, using only 79 pitches to get it done. The Rams started off the home first when Jesse Bregman led off with a single, Sean Mullen followed with a bunt single, Kevitch was hit by a pitch, Will Hoffman then singled in Bregman, and Jack Herrmann then walked to force in Mullen with the second run of the inning. Zach Geiger then hit into an error that scored Kevitch and Aaron Deutsch, who was running for Hoffman.

The Rams added three runs in the third when Don DiLoreto singled to lead off, Herrmann then reached on a fielder’s choice and an error allowed DiLoreto to be safe at second. Diloreto stole third and then Anthony Calligaro singled to plate DiLoreto, and Johnny Mann batted into a fielder’s choice that scored Calligaro with the third run.

Harriton added a run in the fifth when Kieran Burns hit a double, moved to third on the play on a Radnor error and scored on a balk to close it out. Bregman and Calligaro each had two hits, Bregman and Burns each had doubles. In the fifth inning Mann assisted on the first two outs with some fine play at the hot corner, gunning down Radnor’s speedy leadoff man. Kevitch also fielded his position with two fine plays on the mound.

Harriton defeated Strath Haven, 5-2, April 30 behind fine starting pitching from Jonah Frankel, who pitched five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, five strikeouts and only two walks to pick up his first varsity win. The Rams picked up four runs in the home fourth when Brandt Anderson reached first on a dropped third strike, Sean Mullen singled, and Don DiLoreto delivered on a squeeze play that scored Anthony Calligaro, who was running for Anderson, and DiLoreto was safe at first on the play. Frankel then reached on an error, Jack Herrmann then grounded out to score Mullen, DiLoreto scored the third run on a wild pitch and then Jesse Bregman singled to drive in Aaron Deutsch, who was running for Frankel with the fourth run.

Harriton added a fifth run when Ben Newbert led off with a single, Will Hoffman was hit by a pitch, Calligaro laid down a good sacrifice bunt, Mullen was then intentionally walked to load them up and DiLoreto singled to score Zack Geiger running for Newbert.

Radnor lost to Marple Newtown, 10-2, April 30. Six errors led to seven unearned runs as Radnor ran out of gas in their sixth game in eight days. Sean Corelli allowed just one earned run (six total) in four innings of work. Mike Lanzone and Garrett McGurl doubled for the Raiders.

The day before, the Red Raiders defeated Strath Haven, 3-2. Garrett McGurl gave up just two runs while striking out three and walking none in this complete game victory. Connor Wilson led the offense with two hits and a run scored. McGurl added two hits to help his own cause.

Radnor lost to Haverford High, 6-5, in extra innings April 27. Connor Wilson dashed home with two outs in the seventh inning on a passed ball in front of the plate to get the game into extras – but two hit batters helped Haverford to the walk off victory. Justin DiCarlo allowed just one run in 4 1/3 innings of relief. Mike Lanzone had two hits, including a double, for the Raiders.

Softball

Academy of Notre Dame defeated Germantown Academy, 5-4, May 1. Senior pitcher Emma Spaeder got the game winning RBI on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. Freshman Marissa Mycek was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s, two runs and a double. Freshman Michele Bilotta had two walks and scored two runs, including the tieing run, from the No. 9 spot.

Conestoga defeated Garnet Valley, 11-10, in nine innings Monday. Winning pitcher Callie Wang struck out 12 batters, and five Pioneers hits doubles – Jenna Wilson, Olivia Youman, Emily Conaway, Callie Wang and Katie Mayock. Garnet Valley pushed the go ahead run across in the top of the ninth, but Emily Conaway hit a single to right that scored the tieing and winning runs for the Pioneers (10-7, 9-5).

Sacred Heart defeated Mount St. Joseph, 9-5, Monday. Ally Schell hit a home run to lead off the game for Sacred Heart, Isabella Chan had a double and a triple, Meghan Grogan had a double and Mia Anthony had a double.

The Lions defeated Academy Park, 9-2, May 1. Jamie Falcone took the mound for Sacred Heart, and retired six batters she faced, leaving with an 8-0 lead. Sacred Heart scored seven first-inning runs, as Ally Schell banged a laser shot into right field for a grand slam.

In the third inning, freshman Mia Anthony took the mound and pitched five innings, allowing only six hits, two walks and two earned runs while striking out four. She was supported by some excellent defense. Freshman Agnes Friend launched a laser to the plate in the fifth to nail a tagging AP runner from third. Madison Schneider backed up the left fielder in the sixth and nailed an AP runner trying to stretch a single into a double. Meghan Grogan scooped at least three balls out of the dirt to secure outs at first base.

The Lions lost to Merion Mercy Academy, 4-0, April 30. For the Lions, Jamie Falcone was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple, and freshman Agnes Friend had a double, her third extra-base hit of the season.

Boys’ tennis

Conestoga rolled through the first round of the PIAA District One tournament, beating Chichester 5-0 Monday. At first singles, senior Eric Yen cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. At second singles, junior Nick Ruth dropped only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory and senior Michael Blank won at third singles with the same score. At first doubles, Max Howarth and Steven Yang cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Quinn Olson and Alex Moon at second doubles finished off the fifth win with a score of 6-1, 6-1.

Haverford School defeated Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 7-0, April 30. Ford winners included Will McDevitt (first singles), Connor Lees (second singles), John Walsh (third singles), Nathan Kidambi and Drew Clark (first doubles), Jackson Simon and Benji Bacharach (second doubles), Mathias Fink and Teddy Selverian (third doubles) and Andrew Clark and Peter Merhige (fourth doubles).

Lower Merion defeated Downingtown East, 4-1, Monday, in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA District One tournament. The Aces (13-2) won all but the first singles match. At second singles, Matt Chen defeated Dylan Dunkelberger 6-0, 6-0; at third singles, Thibault Vernier defeated Jason Listmeir 6-2, 6-1; at first doubles, Nick Legg and Lucas Kreuzer defeated Matt Watson and Jay Perchyala 6-1, 6-2; and at second doubles, Jared Robinson and Omosessan Adebamgbe defeated Matt Roberts and Vivek Vipperla 6-1, 7-6 (6).

The Aces defeated Radnor, 6-1, April 30. At first singles, LM’s Matt Chen defeated Will Frigerio 6-2, 6-3; at second singles, the Aces’ Thibault Vernier defeated Josh Taylor 6-1, 6-4; and at third singles, the Aces’ Jared Robinson defeated Brad Burton 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. At first doubles, Lower Merion’s Nick Legg and Lucas Kreuzer defeated Jacob Schulz and Thomas Chang 3-6, 6-3, 6-3; at second doubles, LM’s Henry Gao and Dan Same defeated Eddie Paik and Ryan Shimzu 6-1, 6-2; at third doubles, the Aces’ Simon Sheintoch and Omosessan Adebamgbe defeated Jon Davis and Robert Frigerio 6-0, 6-2; and at fourth doubles, Radnor’s Drew Harrington and Noah Offenkratz defeated Josh Dion and Jordan Robinson 6-3, 6-4. By virtue of its win, Lower Merion (12-2) finished second in the Central League with a 10-1 league record.

Malvern Prep defeated Germantown Academy, 5-2, April 30. At first singles, Malvern’s James Harrington defeated Aaron Serdman, 6-1, 6-3; at third singles, the Friars’ Desmond Papriello defeated Dan O’Brien, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5); at first doubles, Malvern’s Steve Conduit and Dan Giannascoli defeated John Vernon and Sam Korman, 6-1, 6-1; at second doubles, MP’s Mike Lemond and Brendan Mullen defeated Bailey Whitman and Matt Rogas, 6-7, 6-3, 7-6(6); and at third doubles, Malvern’s Nick Elia and Nick Mangano defeated Matroya Varachuk and Mike Shangguan, 6-3, 6-3.

Radnor defeated Wissahickon, 3-1, in the first round of the District One tourney Monday. Radnor won second singles, as Josh Taylor defeated Nimay Godbole, 6-3, 6-4; and both doubles contests. At first doubles, Thomas Chang and Jacob Schulz defeated Zane Peng and Greg Welsh, 6-4, 6-4; and at second doubles, Eddie Paik and Ryan Shimizu defeated Srini Sunil and Sam Langman, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.

The Red Raiders defeated Harriton, 4-3, April 29. At first singles, Radnor’s Will Frigerio defeated Jeff Solomon, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4; at second singles, Harriton’s Griffin Kivitz defeated Josh Taylor, 6-4, 6-0; and at third singles, Radnor’s Brad Burton defeated Isaac Goldenberg, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. At first doubles, Harriton’s Alex Douglas and Esteban Bermudez defeated Jacob Schulz and Thomas Chang, 6-4, 6-3; at second doubles, the Rams’ Will Marks and David Naftulin defeated Eddie Paik and Ryan Shimizu, 6-1, 6-4; at third doubles, Radnor’s Eren Ozer and Jonathan Davis defeated Samarth Gowda and Chris Lee, 6-2, 6-3; and at fourth doubles, the Red Raiders’ Noah Offenkrantz and Drew Harrington defeated Jake Smolenski and Sander Shuster, 6-3, 6-4.

Golf

Friends’ Central defeated Abington Friends, 182-229, April 30 at Merion West. For Friends’ Central, Peter Bradbeer was low scorer, shooting a 39 on the front nine at Merion. Mark Charamella shot a 47 that included a par 4 on the difficult ninth.

The following day, FCS defeated Shipley, 188-196. FCS’ Peter Bradbeer shot one over par 36 on the front nine to carry the team to its third Friends Schools League victory on Merion West in three days.

Crew

Conestoga put on a strong showing at the City Championships Regatta May 3. CCC had 15 boats in the race and ended the day with 12 medals.

Conestoga was also awarded the 2015 Kate Godwin Trophy for Women’s Sculling for the third year in a row. The Kate Godwin Trophy is presented each year to the top women’s sculling team of the PSRA Flick/Horvat regatta series. The men’s team came in second out of 33 Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association affiliated teams in the race for the Horvat Series Men’s Sculling Trophy.

All races started with qualifying heats, and the men of Conestoga had a strong showing. The Novice quad of Liam Bobber, Frank Wang, Warren Zhao and Liam Roth finished third in their time trial and improved to second place in a field of six boats taking home a silver medal in the final.

The freshman quad of Evan Cain, Zach Simpson, Jack Amsterdam and Connor Sullivan also showed their power on the water with a second place finish in the time trial and a bronze medal in the final.

The Men’s JV quad of Ryan Hollinger, Chris Ferris, Griffin Hamilton and Maarten Monster, rowed a impressive race, finishing in fourth place in their time trial of 14 boats and finished fourth in the final sprint race. Conestoga’s only Men’s single was led by Tim Kao, who raced in a Varsity qualifying heat taking 14th place and did not move on to the finals.

Max Malarkey and Hanan Zisling took fourth place in their time trial heat which allowed them to progress to the finals and finished fifth place in a tough Varsity doubles race.

Conestoga’s lightweight quad of Mickey Kling, Julius Neubig, Matt Balch and Carelton Monster and the Varsity quad of Jack Novak, Niall Carlson, Jack Corr and Max Amsterdam, each raced hard finishing second with a silver medal – each both was less than three seconds out of first place.

The Conestoga women dominated the river, coming away with a medal in every race.

Maddie Smith in the Novice race and Gillian Dowson in the JV race, each, raced singles coming away with third place, bringing home Bronze medals.

Anna Green and Alyssa Gradisek, won gold in the Novice doubles race. The Novice quad of Amanda Sarkisian, Elissa Wilton, Holly Culbert, Fiona Curnyn also came away with gold.

The Freshman Quad Naomi of Naomi Holt, Katherine Stanton, Sara Hyams and Leigh Burgess finished in first place in their morning time trial and took home a gold medal and open water as the crossed past the grandstand in their afternoon race.

The Women’s Varsity double of Carly Robins and Laura Phelan placed second in their morning time trial out of 17 boats and took second, winning silver in their six-boat final. The Women’s Varsity quad of Caroline Gosnear, Laura Alcorn, Maddy Beirne and Emily Hompe and the Lightweight quad of Anna Zibinski, Angela Sarkisian, Kate Hudson, Amy Connell won their races, bringing home gold medals.

Harriton had some fine performances at the City Championships May 3. The Girls Freshman 4+ finished in first place in their heat clocked at 6:08.76, then finished in first place in the finals (5:55) with a team of Amelia Rieser, Ellison Greenhalgh, Brynn Pelletier, Charoltte Norris and coxswain Natasha Skorupski.

The Girls JV 4+ finished third in their heat (5:44.14), then third in the finals (5:54.73) with a team of Grace Yagodich, Tessa Haugh, Fiona Maruca, Anna Daley-Gibson and coxswain Jula Manning.

The Girls JV 8+ finished 15th in flight (6:08.05) with a team of Angela Sjoblom, MaryGrace Ling, Morgan Schneider, Kennedy Anderson, Caroline Carminati, Olivia Goryl, Alyse Lynch, Olivia Gregonis and coxswain Stephanie Schommer.

The Boys JV 8+ finished 17th in their heat at 5:10.54 with a team of Michael DePetris, Gavin Berke, Alex Gillen, Harrison Hughes, Yohann Rurange, Garrett Pelletier, Pearce Flanagan, Chase Hoehn and coxswain Dallas Sternberg.

The Girls Ltwt 4+ finished eighth in their heat (6:05.77) with a crew of Melissa Grossman, Fleur de Jong, Zoe Rivkind, Julia Glazer and coxswain Lauren Baumholtz.

The Boys Varsity 2 finished in first place (5:50.05) with Tristan Fogt and Charlie Akerblom.

The Girls Varsity 4+ was 23rd in their heat, clocked at 6:22.37, with a team of Natalie Soll, Amanda Glazer, Samantha Amadio, Rachel Meyers and coxswain Caroline Seward.

Radnor had a successful day at the Philadelphia City Championship Regatta May 3.

The Boys Varsity Lightweight 8+, rowed by Noah Morris, Pranav Gaddameedi, Stephen Ching, Drew Addis, Bobby Subak, Ryan Borowski, Aidan Donnelly, Benton Duncan and coxswain Cole Appelman finished fourth overall. They were only three seconds behind third place and it was the best clocking Radnor has had in this event.

The Boys V4+ was rowed by Jake Bragdon, Jack Palmer, Liam Williams, and Evan Horvath with coxswain Will Moore. They came in fifth in the preliminary race and then earned a solid fourth place in the final race later in the afternoon.

The Boys Varsity 2, rowed by Jack Boudreau and Shreyash Parmar came in third place overall.

The Boys JV8+ was rowed by Willem McGee, Oscar Glassman, Zahi Shalev, Will Vaughan, Sam Bupp, Jack Dwyer, Matt Kellett, JW O’Riordan and coxswain Josh Anderson. They came in 19th overall, out of 24 entries.

The Boys JV4+, rowed by Milo Wilton, Matt Palmer, Mike Fitzpatrick, Ben Webster and coxswain Zack Pepper, came in fifth place in the preliminary race, and earned a solid fourth place in the final race later in the afternoon, just two seconds behind the third place boat.

The Boys Freshman 8+, rowed by Brett Lyons, Chetin Atilasoy, Alex Frey, Kyle Addis, Ryan Conklyn, Greg McNicholas, Stefan Neagoe, and Connor Fisher, with coxswain Bela Hain, came in 10th place overall out of 16 entries.

For the Girls, the Novice 4+, rowed by Emma Majercak, Katie Frost, Elly Conklyn and Julia Wi with coxswain Courtney Zajac, finished third overall.

The Girls 1V4+, comprised of Caroline Ressler, Annabelle Chardonnet, Gisella Logioia and Kelsey Lally, with coxswain Skylar Kallick, finished second overall, earning a silver medal.

The 2V4+ (Sam Talucci, Colleen DiMarcantonio, Kristen Hamill and Claudia Cardamone with coxswain Natalie Beers), finished 13th out of 24 boats.

The Girls Freshmen 8 (Ellisen Ching, Camille Mulder, Liz Dustin, Bromley Sharrett, Katie Gerber, Kate McCullough, Ainsley Macrone, Rebecca Modell and Coxswain Chloe Kerpius, finished 11th.

The Girls JV4+ (Katie Dolan, Lauren Logioia, Madeline Zandhuis, Karishma Pattni and Coxswain Cassidy Lorenz, finished 13th out of 27 overall.

The Girls JV8, rowed by Olivia Chase, Yunyun Gu, Josie Larkin, Leshya Bracaglia, Anna Duffy, Zoe Landry, Nicole Vitt and Olivia Robinson, and coxed by Julia Lunger, finished seventh overall, and earned a place at National Championships May 22-23.

Sacred Heart’s boats all reached the finals of their women’s rowing events at the Philadelphia City Championships May 3.

Freshman Marcella Marino started the morning and moved on to the afternoon finals of the Novice 1X. Senior Caroline Garvey placed third in the morning’s Varsity 1X heat, and then captured the silver medal in the final of the Varsity 1X late in the afternoon.

In their debut race, the Novice 2X of freshman Anna Carroll and sophomore Amanda Tolvaisa took the bronze medal in their event. Freshmen Abby Ross, Joan Costello, Molly O’Callaghan, and Dana Becker finished strong in the Novice 4X.

Seniors Caitie Carroll and Meg DiStefano raced to a bronze medal finish in the Lightweight 2X, followed by the Lightweight 4X of seniors Hannah Bushner, Avelina Gargano, Lindsay Johnson and junior Shannon Mulgrew who placed fifth in their final.

Shipley had some promising performances at the PSRA City Championships May 3.

The novice boys competed in the four with Ted Rogers as coxswain, Collin Lawler, Jamie Bruno, Josh Stewart and Joel Weiss, and had a good race, having made many technical improvements and coming in 15th in their time trial out of 22 boats.

The novice girls competed in the eight with sophomore Teyanie Watson-Harris as coxswain, Claudia Menzuiso, Eliza Green, Kelsey Beachell, Rachel Menzuiso, Amelia Korfman, Giavanna Goodwin, Labria Wilson and Sami Brown, and made some changes this week trying some new configurations in their lineup and the girls came down the course looking the best they have all season. It was a tough time trial and the girls placed 16th.

The Varsity girls split up their eight this week and competed in the JV and Varsity four events. In the JV boat Jaylah Shannon, Addison Leavy, Katrina Moore, Giulia Acchione and Amy Danoff raced well but just missed out on advancing to the final by 15 hundredths of a second. In the Varisty four Emma Scornavacchi, Amanda Semerjian, Annie Neilson, Zoe Helmers and Anisa Iqbal also rowed well, coming in 10th out of 24 boats in the time trial.

For the varsity boys, many of the Shipley boats advanced to the finals. Doug Ramsey and Van Tingley continued to be successful in the JV double event, placing first in their time trial by over five seconds and advancing to the afternoon final. In the final the boys dominated the course, coming in first place with an eight-second gap between them and the second-place finisher.

Senior Campbell Taylor also rowed well in the varsity single event coming in third out of 20 in the time trial and fourth overall in the afternoon final.

Micah Salamon, Nick Hannon, Roy Xu and Scott Blum-Woodland had a fine day in the JV quad, coming in fifth on the morning time trial and finishing sixth in the final.

Deondre Jordan and Zack Brida raced in the boys varsity double event, and with some very tough competition they had a solid race, coming in 17th in their time trial.
