The Conestoga High School girls’ lacrosse team defeated top District Three team Manheim, 16-9, Monday, extending their winning streak to nine games after dropping their first game of the season. Conestoga (as of April 21) is ranked No. 10 in the National High School Girls lacrosse ratings after big wins over Vero Beach (Fla.), Radnor, Harriton and Great Valley. Scottie Rose Growney (North Carolina) led the Pioneers against Manheim with six goals, two assists and three caused turnovers. And as they have done all year, Conestoga spread their scoring out with Liz Scott (Loyola Md.), senior captain Maggie Stetson (Drexel) and Monica Borzillo (Cincinnati) and Rilee Scott (West Point) all had two goals each and Sondra Dickey (Lehigh) and Hannah Ashton (Rollins) tallied one goal each.
The Conestoga defense continued to be tough, led by senior captain Sarah Nicholson (Cornell), Elisabeth Ingersoll (Penn), Maddie Little (Navy), Eliza Hacke (Denver), Maggie Hansche, Sarah Brooke (Franklin & Marshall) and two strong goalies between the pipes with senior Laney Stenson (Delaware) and junior Jules Horning (Marquette) minding the net.
Two days earlier, Conestoga defeated Great Valley, 11-10, in a battle of the then- No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in District One and in Pennsylvania. Great Valley jumped out to an early advantage going up 6-2 at one point but Conestoga fought their way back to a 7-7 tie at the half.
In the second half both defenses tightened up and Conestoga stretched a lead to 11-9 after Sondra Dickey scored three of her game-high four goals in the second half. Liz Scott had three goals and a game- and season-high nine draw controls while Monica Borzillo had two goals and two assists and Paige Loose, Scottie Rose Growney, Maggie Stetson and Hannah Ashton all had one goal. The second half was a back and forth battle with both defenses not giving an inch and both goalies making quality saves. Maddie Little, Sarah Nicholson, Elisabeth Ingersoll , Maggie Hansche and Sarah Brooke were a wall for the Pioneers.
While Conestoga goalie Laney Stenson was able to make her last of six saves off an 8 meter free shot by Great Valley with less than three minutes to go, Conestoga was able to retain possession of the ball and run most of the remaining clock out. However, Great Valley made an interception and goal as the buzzer went off to have the final end up 11-10 Conestoga.

Episcopal Academy defeated Penn Charter, 10-3, Tuesday. Leaders for the Churchmen (9-3, 4-1) included Connor Ringwalt (two goals, three assists), Curtis Zappala (one goal, three assists), Eric Haab (two goals), Chris Friedman (two goals), Tyler Will (one goal), Andrew Vetterlein (one goal), Christian Feliziani (one goal), Christian Feliziani (won 12 of 15 faceoffs) and Colin Reder (nine saves).
The Churchmen defeated Malvern Prep, 11-8, April 17. The Friars defeated Strath Haven, 14-7, April 18. The Friars were led by Billy Coyle (three goals, one assist), Drew Schantz (three goals), Scottie White (two goals, one assist), Mike Fay (two ground balls), Quinn McCahon (two goals), Adam Goldner (one goal, one assist), Addison Mueller (one goal, one assist), Zach White (two assists), Charles Kelly (won two of three faceoffs), Sean Christman (won seven of 15 faceoffs) and goalies James Rodgers and Andrew Clark (combined eight saves).
Radnor defeated Strath Haven, 11-3, Tuesday with a second half shutout of the Panthers. Radnor scoring was led by Jack Norton and Clayton Proctor who each had three goals and two assists. The game marked Jack Norton’s first visit back to the field where he suffered a serious head injury in 2013 playing soccer for the Red Raiders against the Panthers. Other Radnor standouts included Jack Wilson (two goals), Drew Ryan (one goal, one assist), Westy McLaughlin (one goal), Kyler Albany (one goal), Tom Meyers (won 11 of 18 faceoffs) and goalie Alex Andersen (eight saves).
The Red Raiders defeated Harriton, 12-5, April 16 behind a big game from Clayton Proctor (three goals, four assists) and a strong defensive effort, allowing only 10 shots on net. Other Radnor standouts included Jack Norton (two goals, two assists), Mike Thompson (two goals), Cole Scheuerle (two goals), Drew Ryan (one goal, two assists), Jack Wilson (one goal, one assist), Kyler Albany (one goal) and Tom Meyers (won 10 of 17 faceoffs). Goalies Alex Andersen and Tucker Ballbach combined for five saves.

Academy of Notre Dame defeated Massapequa (N.Y.), 10-6, April 18. Agnes Irwin’s Emma Hill had a career day, scoring four goals and serving up two assists to lead Agnes Irwin over Baldwin. Hill, the lone senior on the AIS roster, helped the Owls (11-1, 4-1) pick up an Inter-Ac win, rolling past the Bears 18-3 Tuesday.
Hannah Keating added six goals, Laura Pansini, Lila Barker, and Olivia Carey each chipped in two goals and two assists.
Sophomore Alicia O’Neil dominated the midfield, picking up six ground balls to go with one goal, one assist, a caused turnover and a ground ball. Junior captain Sarah Platt added three caused turnovers, two ground balls and an assist. Goalie Hailey Andress made five saves to record her 11th win.
Baldwin School lost to Agnes Irwin, 18-3, Tuesday. Friends’ Central won three games in four days. On April 14, the Phoenix cruised to a 14-0 win over George School. Eight players contributed to the scoring with senior captain Sophie Macfarlane leading the way with two goals and five assists. The following day, FCS defeated Lawrenceville (N.J.), 9-7. Anne Pizzini had an outstanding game in goal posting nine saves and controlled possession of the ball in the final two minutes of the game. Avital Schweitzer pulled in three draw controls, picked up three ground balls and led a solid performance by the defensive unit of Lisa Bernstein, Hannah Posencheg (three ground balls, one caused turnover) and Hannah Anderson. Scoring for FCS were Sophie Macfarlane (four goals), Lorna Macfarlane (three goals), Emily Tedesco (one goal) and Miranda Mastrocola (one goal).
Two days later, FCS beat Moorestown Friends 17-8. Avital Schweitzer dominated the draw possession, pulling in seven. Anne Pizzin and Elise Foster combined for six saves. Lorna Macfarlane had six goals and one assist; Emily Tedesco had five goals and two assists; and sophomore Sophie Berger had five goals and one assist. Hayden Posencheg and Abby Crowley each added a goal. Hannah Posencheg, Morgan Crowley, Sam Roshkoff, Abby Crowley and Hannah Anderson played solid defense and combined for four caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
Harriton rolled past Lower Merion, 16-5, Tuesday. Harriton was led by Jane Henderson, who had five goals and one assist, including the 200th of her career. Radnor defeated Harriton, 11-8, April 16, going on a 6-0 run late in the first half to erase a 4-3 Ram lead. The Red Raiders were led by Reilly Masterson (three goals), Lexi Kenneally (two goals), Megan Massimino (one goal), Emily Games (one goal), Hannah Proctor (two goals, two assists), Abby Lord (one goal) and Katie Quinn (one goal).
Sacred Heart lost to Villa Maria, 21-3, Tuesday. For the Lions, Hannah Seifried scored two goals and Jenna Palumbo one.
The Lions defeated St. Basil’s, 20-12, April 17. Goal scorers for the Lions included Jenna Palumbo (two goals), Celine Dugan (eight), Hannah Seifried (seven) and Ashley Corsi (three). Sacred Heart goalie Katie Honebrink recorded 17 saves.
Shipley defeated Academy of the New Church, 14-8, Tuesday. Leading the way for the Gators was newly appointed senior captain Demi Karalis who shot 100 percent and had five goals. Also adding to the offense were senior Madison Tucker (two goals, one assist), juniors Christina Piasecki (three goals), Jenna Litner (two goals, two assists) and freshman Ashleigh Gundy (two goals, four assists).
The Gators defeated Abington Friends, 20-10, April 17. Freshman Ashleigh Gundy pulled down 19 draw controls, helping the Gators to control most of the game. Leading the scoring for the Gators was senior Demi Karalis with seven goals and three assists for 10 points. Also scoring were Gundy (four goals, two assists), sophomore Olivia Sobel (three goals), juniors Hope Roehrs (two goals, three assists), Avery Yecies (one goal, one assist), Emily Talluto (one goal, one assist), and Christina Pisecki (one goal) and freshman Soph Piasecki (one goal, one assist).
Villa Maria Academy defeated Sacred Heart, 21-3, Tuesday. Leaders for the Hurricanes included Lauren Dunn (three goals, three assists), Jenna Brignola (one goal, one assist), Lucy Meehan (one goal), Audrey Fantazzia (five goals), Annina Iacobucci (five goals, two assists), Katie Manta (two goals, one assist), Erin Alessandroni (two goals), Bryn Carickhoff (two assists), Ryan O’Rourke (one goal) and Bridget Forde (one goal).

Baseball
Friends’ Central lost to Westtown, 6-4, Tuesday, despite a final-inning comeback. Westtown’s Kevin Henrickson had a no hitter through six innings and FCS trailed 6-0 going into the last inning. Gil Dreyfuss broke up the no hitter with an RBI double and the Phoenix mounted a comeback. With the score at 6-4, two outs and Robbie Winward on third, Elias Stevenson slammed a hard ground ball down the first base line. Unfortunately for the Phoenix, Westtown’s first baseman made a diving play to end the ball game.
On April 18, Friends’ Central pitchers Chris Annas and Gil Dreyfuss combined for a one hitter and Mike Norcini drove in the game winning run with an RBI single in FCS’ 4-1 win over Bishop McDevitt.
The day before, FCS’ Joey Lawall threw a no hitter against host Academy of the New Church in a 16-1 win. Ardon Fryer was 3-for-3 with five RBI’s and Gil Dreyfuss was 3-for-4 with three RBI’s to lead the Phoenix offense.
Harriton (6-3 overall, 4-3 Central League) defeated Haverford High, 12-11, in eight innings April 16 on a Ben Newbert two-run single in the bottom of the eighth.
In the bottom of the eighth, trailing 11-10, the Rams began their rally when Don DiLoreto led off with a single, Tristan Kevitch singled, and Will Hoffman was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. Newbert smashed a single to center field, scoring pinch runner Alex Chang with the tying run and Kevitch with the winning run.
Tristan Kevitch was 4-for-5 with six total bases, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Ben Newbert went 3-for-5 with three RBI’s. Don DiLoreto got the pitching win. Will Hoffman had two RBI’s.
The Rams earned a 13-2 win over Ridley April 15. Jesse Bregman pitched a complete game, letting up only four singles and one walk on only 74 pitches. Offensive leaders for the Rams included Don DiLoretto (two runs), Tristan Kevitch (three runs, two hits), Will Hoffman (two hits, two RBI’s), Ben Newbert (two hits, two RBI’s), Brandt Anderson (two hits, two RBI’s), Lorenzo Solon (two hits), Aaron Deutsch (two hits) and Anthony Calligaro (two runs). Defensively, Tristan Kevitch displayed standout center field play.
Radnor improved its record to 4-4 (3-3 Central League) with a 6-5 win against Garnet Valley April 16. Sean Corelli pitched a complete game victory to lead the hosts over the defending league champions. John Lord had a big two-out RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to plate Corelli with the tie breaking run. Corelli retired 10 of the last Garnet players he faced. Will Girton went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Red Raiders came back from two one-run deficits.
The day before, the Red Raiders lost to Lower Merion, 3-2. Miles Michoniwicz got out of a second and third with nobody out jam in the seventh to notch the save. Sean Corelli went 3-for-4 with a clutch RBI double in the seventh inning. Charlie Connolly only allowed only two runs for Radnor.
Softball
Academy of Notre Dame improved to 3-3 with a 14-1 win against Agnes Irwin April 17. Notre Dame pitchers Emma Spaeder, Gab Fanucci and Michele Bilotta combined to allow just three hits, striking out five. Offensively, Notre Dame standouts included freshman shortstop Sophia Marlino (3-for-5, home run, six RBI’s, two runs) senior captain and second baseman Emily Sheehan (4-for-5), home run, two RBI’s, four runs) and senior center fielder Meagan Milligan (2-for-5, five RBI’s). For Agnes Irwin, Korrin Carter went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Barrack Hebrew Academy lost to Renaissance, 16-4, April 15. For Barrack, Sarah Levin had a three run triple in the second inning.
Conestoga (8-3, 7-2) defeated Penncrest, 13-3, Tuesday. Winning pitcher Callie Wang hurled five innings, allowing only four hits, two earned runs and no walks, and striking out four batters. Callie Wang went 3-for-4 with six RBIs and a two-run home run. Emily Conaway went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Brittany Myers went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
The Pioneers defeated Upper Merion, 3-2, April 18 to improve its record to 7-3 (6-2 Central League). Winning pitcher Callie Wang allowed only one earned run and no walks in seven inning, striking out six. At bat, Wang hit a double, and hit an RBI single in the seventh to score the go-ahead run. Kathryn Lenker hit a two-run single with two outs in the sixth to tie the game. Giovanna Lorine preserved the win with an excellent defensive play at third base.
Two days earlier, Conestoga defeated Marple Newtown, 7-0. Winning pitcher Callie Wang allowed only four hits and no walks in seven innings, striking out seven batters. Callie Wang and Katie Mayock hit doubles, Jenna Wilson went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Brittany Myers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Pioneers defeated Strath Haven, 14-3, April 15, in five innings. Winning pitcher Giavonna Lorine gave up only one hit, one walk and no earned runs in two innings, while striking out four. Katie Mayock earned a save, striking out five batters in three innings. Cailyn Chiarello hit a double, Emily Conaway hit a triple and home run, and Katie Mayock hit a triple for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart lost to Merion Mercy Academy, 6-5, April 17. For the Lions, Ally Schell had a triple and scored two runs, Jamie Falcone was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Defensively, Ally Schell, Jamie Falcone and Meghan Grogan and Isabella Chen combined with big plays to keep the score close.
One day earlier, Sacred Heart lost to St. Basil, 3-1. Junior Ally Schell was 3-for-3 with a double, two singles and two stolen bases and scored the Lions’ lone run. Sacred Heart pitcher Jamie Falcone struck out five batters.
Boys’ tennis
Conestoga defeated Radnor, 6-1, April 15. At first singles, Conestoga senior Eric Yen fell to Radnor’s Will Frigerio 2-6, 4-6; at second singles, Conestoga junior, Nick Ruth won 6-3, 7-6 (7-2); at third singles, Conestoga senior, Michael Blank handily won, 6-4, 6-1. Conestoga’s doubles swept all four courts. At first doubles, senior Stephen Yang and junior Max Howarth won, 6-0, 6-1; a second doubles win came easily to senior Quinn Olson and junior Alex Moon 6-0, 6-2; at third doubles, junior Jason Kim and sophomore Cahlin Pragada brought home a win 7-5, 6-0; and at fourth doubles sophomore Kai Czubryt-Ogino and freshman Carson Lortz landed on top with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
Friends’ Central lost to George School, 4-1, April 17, with Charles Book at first singles as FCS’ only winner. George School was able to end Friends’ Central’s 55-match winning streak in the Friends Schools League, which spanned six years.
Haverford School defeated Penn Charter, 7-0, Tuesday. Winners included Zach Lieb (first singles), Ben Lieb (second singles), John Walsh (third singles), Nathan Kidambi and Will McDevitt (first doubles), Drew Clark and Connor Lees (second doubles), Ted Selverian and Benji Bacharach (third doubles) and Andrew Clark and Mathias Fink (fourth doubles).

Track & field
Academy of Notre Dame defeated Germantown Academy, 79-44, Monday to finish its InterAc regular season schedule undefeated (6-0). Winners for the Irish included Katy McCullough (100 hurdles, 16.6), Monica McGinnis (100 meter run, 12.7), Mikayla Schneider (1,600 meter run, 5:24.1) the 4×100 relay team of Aliyah Stokes, Alessandra Ciampi, Danielle Bunten and Monica McGinnis, 50.8), Sophia Recchilungo (400 meter run, 60.8), Aliyah Stokes (200 meter run, 27.5), the 4×400 relay team of Moinca McGinnis, Danielle Bunten, Quinn Maguire and Mikayla Schneider (4:16.4), Quinn Maguire (long jump, 15-8) and Caroline O’Keefe (triple jump, 32-6.5).
Conestoga had some fine finishes at the Warrior Invitational at West Chester Henderson April 18. Freshman Dominique Shultz finished second in the 3,200 meter run (11:26.98), which qualified her for the District One Championship in May. Shultz’s teammate and training partner, junior Johanna Nasman, also ran a personal best in the 3,200 meter run (11:31.22).
Junior Lila Holmes finished third in the 200 meter dash (26.37) and helped guide her 4×100 meter relay team to a first place finish and season best time (50.63). Holmes’s relay teammates also performed well; freshman Grace Lanouette finished second in the 100 meter dash (12.90) and seventh in the 200 meter dash (27.32); sophomore Kiara Sprague won the 300 meter hurdles with a personal best and District qualifying time (47.42). Senior Elise Odell placed second in the triple jump (32-10.50). Junior Brittany Coleman finished fifth in the 200 (26.88).
On the boys side, senior Andrew Marston placed fifth in the 1,600 meter run with a personal best and the fifth best time in Pennsylvania (4:18.58). Senior Nate McLachlan won both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles with a pair of personal best times (14.97, 40.19).
Senior Andrew Diehl won the high jump (6-6) and senior Dan Kralik placed 11th in the 400 meter dash (54.11) and ran a personal best in the 200 meter dash (24.28).
Senior Kilian Nelson placed third in the 800 meter run (1:57.43) and teammate Jimmy Cooper, also a senior, ran a personal best in the same event (2:00.31). Senior Jack Iffert (9:50.97) and Nick Boccella (9:59.28) each ran a personal beat in the 3,200-meter run.

Episcopal Academy (girls) defeated Agnes Irwin, 90-37, Monday. Top performers for EA were Alexis Malmberg (3,200-meter run, 12:18) and Christine McCann (shot put, 29-1), while Agnes Irwin was led by Marin Bloise (long jump, 16-3) and Stephanie Williams (100-meter run, 13.1).
Radnor’s Kaitlyn Slinkard and Katie Lihota were individual winners as the girls track team competed at home Monday against Ridley and Conestoga. Slinkard captured the 400 meter event with a personal best clocking of 63.9. Lihota won the high jump going 4-10.
Second place efforts were turned in by Olivia Cooper in the 3,200 meter, Grace Wakiyama in the 1,600 meter, and the 1,600 meter relay foursome of Slinkard, Caroline Ditrolio, Emma Sheehan, and Megan Hemcher.
Radnor had some fine performances at the Shippensburg Invitational April 18. Red Raider junior Olivia Cooper finished first in her 1,600 meter race with a personal best time of 5:30.1. Cooper also ran her best time of the season clocking a 2:27.1 in the 800 meter. Freshman Caroline Ditrolio, Julia Havertine, and Grace Wakiyama combined with sophomore Emma Sheehan for a solid time of 10:37.4 in the 3,200 meter relay.
Another group of Radnor girls competed at the Great Valley Relays. At that meet the 400 meter relay of Ana Pressman, Kahli Rhodes, Deja Watt, and Jenny Abrams clocked a 55.1 for their best time of the season. Also recording the teams best clocking of the year, Sasha Smolyansky, Kate Quinn, Megan Hemcher, and Kaitlyn Slinkard teamed for a 4:27.1

Crew
Agnes Irwin had excellent performances at the 5th and final Manny Flick April 19. The Freshman 4x (Alexis Short, Myka Thomas, Rose Lawrence, Rosie Sokoll) placed first overall. The Novice 4x (Sarah Nicolson, Lauren Schafrank, Carolyn Shipe, Caroline Richardson) placed first overall for the third flick in a row. The JV 2x(Gilian Diebold , Sophia Weintraub) had a finishing time of 6:21.1.
The Owls’ JV 4x (Anna Sophie Peters, Nina Erixxon, Marian Pinsk, Sabina Smith) placed second in their heat. Agnes Irwin’s Lightweight 4+ (Taylor Siegal, Arden Berlinger, Gabby D’Arcangelo, Maya Brown Hunt, Teagan Aquirre) placed third in their heat. And the V 4+ (Julia Minker, Indiah Porter, Reagan Silvi, Vidhi Patel, Charlotte Meltzer) had a finishing time of 6:02.7.
AIS crew coach Molly Lawrence said, “The 5th Manny Flick was a great success for our team. We were able to squeeze out more speed during practices this past week and it really showed on the water.”
Conestoga posted strong results at the Manny Flick 5 April 19. With 556 entries representing 76 clubs, the Pioneers earned three first-place finishes, eight second-place finishes, one third-place finish and two fourth-place finishes.
The day started with the boys Novice quad; Liam Bobber, Frank Wang, Warren Zhao and Michael Hoban followed by the boys Freshman quad; Evan Cain, Zach Simpson, Jack Amsterdam and Conner Sullivan both finishing in second place.
In their fourth races of the season, the boys JV quad; Ryan Hollinger, Chris Ferris, Griffin Hamilton and Maarten Monster and the boys Varsity lightweight quad; Micky Kling, Matt Balch, Julius Neubig and Carleton Monster both finished competitive races in second place.
The Varsity quad; Jake Novak, Niall Carlson, Jack Corr and Max Amsterdam finished a strong second, beating the third place boat from Haddon Township by 0.39 of a second. The boys Varsity double; Max Malarkey and Hanan Zisling finished fourth in a field of 18 boats. Tim Kao competed in the boys Varsity single and took third place.
After lunch, racing resumed with two Freshman/Novice double entries; Fiona Curnyn and Holly Culbert took first place while Elissa Wilton and Amanda Sarkisian finished in second. The girls Novice quad; Alyssa Gradisek, Madolyn Smith, Rebecca Cook and Anna Green finished a strong second.
In the following event, the girls Freshman quad; Naomi Holt, Katherine Stanton, Sara Hyams and Leigh Burgess cruised down the Schuylkill with a first-place win. In her first race in a single this year, Gillian Dowson took fourth place in the JV race. The girls Varsity lightweight quad of Amy Connell, Anna Zibinski, Kate Hudson and Angela Sarkisian continued their winning tradition with a first place finish. The girls Varsity double; Carly Robins and Laura Phelan rowed to a strong second-place finish.
Harriton had some solid performances in the Manny Flick 5 April 19, which included 556 entries and 76 clubs.
The Harriton Girls Freshman 4+ finished second in flight (5:57.72) with a group of coxswain Natasha Skorupski, Charlotte Norris, Brynn Pelletier, Ellison Greenhalgh and Amelia Rieser.
The Rams’ Girls Novice 8+ placed 18th in a head race (6:31.31) with a team of coxswain Hannah Cotler, Olivia Gregonis, Alyse Lynch, Claire Cosfol, Morgan Schneider, MaryGrace Ling,Jessica Salah, Kennedy Anderson and Mason Famiglio.
Harriton’s Girls JV4+ was first of 22 boats in a head race (5:51.15) with a group of coxswain Julia Manning, Anna Daley-Gibson, Fiona Maruca, Tessa Haugh and Grace Yagodich.
The Girls Ltwt 4+ placed third in flight (5:55.39) with a team that included coxswain Lauren Baumholtz, Julia Glazer, Zoe Rivkind, Fleur de Jong and Melissa Grossman.
The Girls Varsity 4+ was fourth in flight (6:18.54) with a team of coxswain Caroline Seward, Samantha Amadio, Caroline Carminati, Amanda Glazer and Olivia Goryl.
The Boys Novice 4+ was 16th in a head race (6:34.16) with a team of coxswain Lily Hoffman, Tijmen van Wijngaarden, Marcus Noel, Jonas Schlicter and Andrew Salah.
The Boys JV 8+ was 25th in a head race (5:24.12) with a group of coxswain Dallas Sternberg, Chase Hoehn, Pearce Flanagan, Garrett Pelletier, Emerson Ahn, Alex Gillen, Harry Hughes, Gavin Berke and Michael DePetris. The Boys Varsity 2x was fifth in flight (5:33.70) with a duo of Charlie Akerblom and Tristan Fog.
Radnor (boys) continued to improve their times at the Manny-Flick 5 April 19.
The boys Varsity 2 boat, rowed by Jack Breen and Shrey Parmar came in first place. The Varsity 4+, rowed by Jake Bragdon, Liam Williams, Jack Palmer, and Evan Horvath with Coaxswain Will Moore, came in fourth in their heat and fourth overall.
The JV 4+, rowed by Milo Wilton, Matt Palmer, Mike Fitzpatrick and Ben Webster with coxswain Zack Pepper, came in sixth place. The JV 8+, rowed by Willem McGee, Will Vaughan, Zahi Shalev, Sam Bupp, Matt Kellett, Jack Boudreau, Jake Craig, and Max Fry with coxswain Josh Anderson, came in 17th place.
The Freshmen 8+ was rowed by Brett Lyons, Chetin Atillasoy, Alex Frey, Kyle Addis, Ryan Conklyn, Greg McNicholas, Stefan Neagoe and Connor Fisher, with coxswain Bela Hain, and came in eighth place overall.
The Varsity Lightweight 8+, which included Oscar Glassman, Aidan Donnelly, Ryan Borowski, Noah Morris, Pranav Gaddameedi, Bobby Subak, Drew Addis, Bobby Subak, Stephen Ching and coxswain Cole Appelman, came in fourth place overall, continuing to improve their time each week.
The Radnor Boys Crew Club’s Varsity, JV, Novice and Freshman men ranked first among all public high schools and fifth overall (as of April 21) in the 2015 Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association’s Spring Regatta series competing for the Manny Flick Trophy points in the sweep category. The rowers represented Radnor against more than 60 private and public high schools from four states (Pa., N.J., Del., N.Y.), having competed in the series of four regattas on the 1,500 meter course on the Schuylkill River.
Sacred Heart made its mark racing in five events in the Manny Flick 5 April 19. Beginning the afternoon’s events for Heart Crew were freshmen Marcella Marino and Joan Costello in the Novice 2x, placing fourth. Freshmen Dana Becker and Abby Ross joined Anna Carroll and Amanda Tolvaisa in the Novice 4X, powering to a third-place finish.
Heart seniors Meg DiStefano and Caitie Carroll held off their competition to take first in the LTWT 2X, and the LTWT 4X of seniors Lindsay Johnson, Avelina Gargano and Hannah Bushner with junior Shannon Mulgrew finished strong. Senior Caroline Garvey placed third in the Varsity 1X . Heart Crew holds a fifth place position in the 2015 PSRA points trophy table for women’s sculling.
Golf
Friends’ Central lost to host Hill School, 225-254, at Brookside Country Club April 17. FCS’ Peter Bradbeer shot 34 (par 35 for nine holes).
Three days earlier, Friends’ Central defeated Abington Friends, 175-206, on the North Hills Country Club course. FCS’ Peter Bradbeer shot a Friends’ Central School career best 34 (par 35). This score included two birdies, six pars and just one bogey.
