ATHOL, Mass. (WWLP) – Athol High School beat Mahar Regional High School 48-9 Thursday, in the oldest high school football rivalry in western Massachusetts.
The game kicked-off at 10:00 Thursday at Athol High School. From start to finish, the game was dominated by Athol, which scored 48 points- a season high.
The Red Raiders improved to 8-3 this year, while the Mahar Senators dropped to 1-9.
The rivalry dates back to the 19th Century. The two schools first played back in 1894.
