SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield man was convicted Thursday in U.S. District Court for selling counterfeit goods.
According to U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz, 38-year-old Josue Rivera pleaded guilty to trafficking in counterfeit and unauthorized goods.
As part of his plea agreement, Rivera agreed to pay $29,000 in restitution and forfeiture of two bank accounts worth approximately $79,000, said Ortiz.
From April 11 to June 25, 2012, Rivera sold counterfeit products out of a retail merchandise business in Springfield called Main Source.
Rivera sold clothing, footwear, and accessories that had a variety of brand names and trademarks, including Gucci, Nike, Coach, Chanel, and Oakley, said Ortiz. Rivera also sold unauthorized reproductions of movies and music.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven H. Breslow of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Office.
