DETROIT (AP) – The annual Motor City Pride Festival and Parade returns to downtown Detroit.

The festival begins at noon Saturday in Hart Plaza. The parade starts at noon on Sunday at Griswold and Fort streets.

Organizers say the two-day event celebrates the history and success of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender movement and diversity of Michigan’s LGBTQ communities.

Groups that provide services and programs for the LGBTQ communities will take part in the festival, which also will feature five entertainment stages.

Motor City Pride is a project of Equality Michigan, the statewide anti-violence and advocacy organization serving the LGBTQ and HIV affected communities.
