DETROIT (WWJ) – Some of Detroit’s top performing high school students were honored at a big celebration Wednesday night.
Cass Tech student Clarke Walker, 17, is one of only 273 Detroit Public Schools graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.5 or better.
With a 3.87 — how hard does she work for it?

“Oh my God, the work, it’s just so hard!” she told WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas. “People think Cass Tech is hard, but it’s on a whole nother level.”
Walker is headed to the University of Michigan to major international studies.
“I’m really happy. I’ve been looking for scholarships nonstop,” she said, “and I think I’ve gotten it down so I only have to pay $3,000 per year.”
Ahsha Davis, 18, has a 3.78. She’s going to Central Michigan University, and then on to Howard University.

“I want to be an international journalist and an international translator,” Davis said. “So I want to travel to different countries and write articles about what they do in those countries.”
It was a tough to success for Ahsha.
“I worked very hard …My parents went through a divorce during my freshman year, and to it was kinda hard, but I made it through it,” she said.
She plans to major in Spanish.
