DETROIT (WWJ) - If you’re wishing for some relief to the dangerously cold temperatures metro Detroit has been experiencing for what feels like months now — forecasters are warning you shouldn’t hold your breath.
The sun might shine a little this weekend, but forecasters say it won’t be enough to help raise the thermometer past the 20 degree mark. And once you factor in the wind chill, it will actually feel more like zero degrees outside.
Adding insult to injury, forecasters say the region could also see about an inch of snow beginning Saturday afternoon. The snow will continue overnight into Sunday with scattered flurries throughout the day. Temperatures will plummet overnight into the single digit range, with a wind chill well below zero. The extreme cold could lead to school closings on Monday.
Forecasters say it’s going to be even colder on Tuesday, when temperatures will struggle to reach double digits during the day and overnight lows will hover around zero degrees. The sun will peek back out on Wednesday, with highs around 25 degrees, but hide behind cloudy skies on Thursday. Forecasters say we might see a little bit of snow by the time the end of the week rolls around.

Tuesday: Very cold with sunshine and patchy clouds. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph. High 13F.
Tuesday Night: Clear and bitterly cold. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Low 4F.
