DETROIT (WWJ) – Forecasters say metro Detroit can expect another one to three inches of snow on Monday — and that could bring the total amount over the past three days to a foot in some cities.

As predicted, the National Weather Service is reporting the most snow over the weekend fell near the Ohio border. Nine inches of snow was reported in Newport in Monroe County; eight inches fell at Metro Airport and in Wyandotte; and seven inches was reported near Ann Arbor, Mount Clemens and Roseville.

It’s not quite over yet, but Monday’s snowfall will likely not begin until late, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Dr. Joe Sobel.

“The snow begins well after dark, so there shouldn’t be any problems with the evening rush hour,” Sobel said. “But there will be snow around tomorrow (Tuesday) morning … probably slippery, and that means allow yourself some extra time.”

Sobel said it will likely be a more dry, powdery snow.

Sobel said Southeast Michigan could see a few leftover flurries on Tuesday, and Wednesday will be brisk and cold.

After that, expect the snow to melt.

It will warm up a bit to around 40 degrees, he said, Thursday and Friday — with some rain in the forecast, believe it or not. Especially in the afternoon and at night.
