Apparel-maker Delta Galil Industries Ltd. inked a licensing deal with Columbia Sportswear Co. to launch a collection of “performance-based underwear” for fall 2016.
Delta Galil is already the exclusive global licensee of men’s and women’s socks for Columbia Sportswear.
Isaac Dabah, chief executive officer of Delta Galil said the agreement provides Columbia Sportswear “with intimate apparel collections that embody the performance, fit, function and style that consumers worldwide associate with the Columbia brand. This represents an important growth opportunity for our business, as activewear remains a strong contributor to our overall sales.”
Delta Galil, which is a global supplier and marketer of branded and private label apparel products for the women’s, men’s and children’s wear markets, described the deal as an “exclusive global licensing agreement to develop, produce and distribute” underwear for the outerwear company and “represents a significant expansion into the performance underwear category by Columbia Sportswear.”
Matt Merriman, director of licensing at Columbia Sportswear, said Delta Galil’s “design expertise, ability to meet our high quality and performance standards, and strong global reach will be instrumental in expanding our brand into this important new category.”
Performance underwear features moisture management and antimicrobial properties “to meet the needs of consumers with active lifestyles,” Delta Galil stated.
