TOMORROW PEOPLE: Buoyed by a multimillion dollar private equity investment earlier this year, international showroom Tomorrow is adding to its portfolio, and its newest edition is Nicola Formichetti’s own brand Nicopanda.
Tomorrow London Ltd. will distribute the Japanese streetwear-inspired brand, starting with pre-spring 2017. The showroom will take control of Nicopanda’s global wholesale activity for its ready-to-wear and accessories collections for men and women.
“We strongly believe through the potential of this partnership that Nicopanda will become available to a larger international audience,” said the brand’s chief executive officer Kevin Kollenda, adding Nicopanda’s aim is to create “a fully inclusive, international brand.”
Formichetti, who launched Nicopanda in 2012, said he was attracted to Tomorrow’s “attitude about putting creativity before commerce. It is very in-sync with both Nicopanda’s and my own approach.”
Tomorrow represents labels including Christopher Raeburn, Frame Denim, Rebecca Minkoff, Marni, Tommy Hilfiger, Derek Lam 10 Crosby and Markus Lupfer.
In January, Three Hills Capital Partners invested $21 million into the showroom that is hoping to break the industry mold and become a one-stop shop for the labels it represents. Tomorrow also plans to take small stakes in some of its companies.
