Gubuak Kopi Community is a cultural study club, working to research and develop knowledge of the arts and media in the local area and introduce art as a medium for the aspirations of citizens. We work collectively with residents to produce contemporary arts.

Gubuak Kopi was established by a youth group consisting of an artist, media researchers, students, cultural observers and journalists in 2011 in Solok, West Sumatra. From 2015 to 2016 (continued) the Gubuak Kopi community has launched a program called “Solok Milik Warga” (Solok the city of citizens), a development project of the arts as a medium of aspiration and expression in criticizing local issues. Research has started since September 2015 by mapping problems affecting the citizens’ apathy towards this city, Solok city. This project is also the development of the program “Aku, Kita dan Kota (Me, Us, and the City) in criticizing the contribution of citizens to the city(2012). This time, Gubuak Kopi invites the workers and researchers of  art to engage in the process of doing some quick research and production of works in response to the city and an introduction to the form of art as a medium with the availability of all facilities. These residency activities will be implemented in March 2016.
