BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Investigators have released the names of the people involved in Friday night’s deadly boat crash on Smith Mountain Lake.

WDBJ reports that drive teams recovered Timothy O’Quinn’s body Saturday morning.

Investigators said the 37-year-old from Botetourt County was a passenger on a boat driven by 61-year-old Teddy Wolford when the craft was slammed into by a boat operated by Gary and Crystal Nichols of Franklin County around 9:20 p.m. Friday.

Wolford’s 14-year-old grandson is being credited with pulling the Nichols from the water and possibly saving their lives. Wolford was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The boaters were participating in a tournament that allows late-night fishing when the accident happened.

The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said that charges are pending and that Speed was a factor in the crash. No one was wearing life jackets, according to investigators.
