(WTNH) — #Election2016 is now the most socially political year ever. Information is at our fingertips and social media is playing a key role influencing voters as well as sharing local and national election information.
For the candidates, it’s easier to make voters aware of issues on a broader scale utilizing videos, photos and posts to get their stances on key issues disseminated and encouraging more conversations. For voters, the ability to publish political opinions stirs up hot debates between friends and family across these networks online.
Twitter and Facebook have both live streamed the Presidential Debates, but what can we expect from social media on Election Day tomorrow?
Facebook: Facebook Election Hub
Here you’ll find some great resources that are customized for you. Creating a social event, both online and in-person, and conversation around the election is what Facebook is aiming to do. There’s an option to message your friends, pick a time to vote together, get a ballot preview and of course, sharing that you voted is the digital “I Voted” sticker for everyone to see.
From January to October, 109 million Americans on Facebook generated 5.3 billion likes, posts, comments and shares about the election, according to Facebook.

#ElectionDay and #Election2016 have special hashtag ballot box emojis tied to them to make sharing and #IVoted brings up a checked box emoji.

Add fun Election Day Twitter Stickers to your voting or Election Day party photos that you’re tweeting out to your followers.
Beyond creative fun on Twitter, if you direct message @Gov on Twitter and they’ll message you directions to your polling place as well as candidate information.
Snapchat: Selfie Lenses
Turn yourself into a candidate or become patriotic with a few fun Snapchat selfie lenses! One that lets you become Hillary Clinton or you can stay stylish by wearing a pair of “vote” sunglasses – this lens also animates with ballots flying in the background – or you can choose another animated red, white and blue confetti lens. Donald Trump is also planning on releasing a Trump geofilter tomorrow which isn’t yet available.
Periscope:
The Twitter-owned video broadcasting platform is letting you broadcast live videos in selfie mode (however, only available on iOS) as Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.
Instagram:
You’ll see plenty of #Election2016 and #IVoted sticker and ballot selfies in your Instagram feed – in Connecticut, ballot selfies are not prohibited!
